Right..... As the Worker "Drones" get up and travel to their dead-end jobs.... they need to be "amused and entertained", instead of inspired and up lifted by great Rock Music....
Yeah.... That's The Ticket !!!
Must be a Govt. Conspiracy...., as they do this to workers all over the country.....
Instead of Music in the Mornings..... America is fed up hot and tatsy garbage to start their patheitic work day with...... How Wonderful and Fullfilling it must be to be a prt of that creative force!!
(Sarcasm Intended...)
That raises the question of what is great rock music? I can guarantee my definition differs from yours. Some people believe KISS is a great rock band. I believe they are hacks. How about hair bands? Or grunge? 80's synth? 60's psychodelia?
No matter what genre of rock you decide to program you're going to end up with the same problem that has plague radio for the last 30 years: the same 3 songs from the same 20 bands on an endless, unchanging playlist that repeats every few hours until the crack of doom. I would rather listen to talk that is unique every day rather than the same tired songs over and over. It gets my mind started in the morning.
(Disdain intended...)
Well, that's where I thoroughly disagree Albert19X....
A "Great" Rock radio station, imo, and others opinions, would
not play the same 3 songs from the same 20 bands on an endless, unchanging playlist that repeats every few hours until the crack of doom...... regardless of the slant of the station.... A Great Rock radio station, that is not "Hit" oriented, would instead, play the other "great" music by all of these bands, and other great music by other bands not already being played.
The difference is, many White Zombie songs are great Hard Rock songs.... But Rob Zombie songs, are more eclectic, and I would not even try to play them. White Zombie is good enough.
I think I can steer away from enough fo the the commercial hits --- of any genre, to delve into what would by satisfying to Rock Music fans. I'm not trying to please everybody. Who does ? ? ?
KLBJ-FM was able to do what I'm talking about very nicely in the early-mid 70's.
You just have the discernment to not play "Walk This Way", even though it was charting...............
If your attitude is that "if it charts....it must be worthy for airplay", then you're on the other side of the issue.
I know what I'm talking about !
I know when something is pop-c-r-a-p, ie, Three Doors Down.... or is not.
Remember when FM came out as an alternative to pop hit music ? ? ?
That music like Three Doors Down is considered "quality" rock by some astounds me.
It's just commerical c-r-a-p.... easily forgotten tomorrow.....
The last time I was impressed and taken with "Pop" music, it was 1964, and a band from Liverpool, The Beatles, were all over the charts. THAT was worthy pop music.
Three Doors Down.... is pompus. I want real rock music. Not forumulated tripe for tweens and teens.....
