Citadel going down

Was'nt one of the reasons Hmmel left WLNE is that he did not want to work with Cianci everyday?

Actually, Buddy & Hummel would make for a classic "Odd Couple" pairing, and could actually work...IF...Hummel could stand being in the same studio with Buddy for three hours a day.

Anyway...I think it would a whole lot better than the current "Buddy & the Lap Dog"...OOPS...I mean "St. Pierre"...program.

Allen is good, but he's not hardcore like the other Providence hosts. Personally that is why I like him better. But in typical Providence radio fashion, they don't always hire the best. They hire someone who sounds like they could fit in working at the State House instead. Talk shows in this state are to political in my opinion. Allen doesn't have that sound. He's more of a rebel and a whole lot funnier than your typical stale sounding talk show host. I think HJJ would skip right over him and hire Yorke or Depetro first. But that is ONLY if HJJ was going to hire ANYBODY...... which I don't think they will.

Of course if there are big names like Yorke and Depetro on the table, they might be hired first - but I don't believe that would be the scenario that occurs. No way WPRO dumps both morning and pm drive at the same time, along with their night host. You might see one of them go, plus Matt, if the situation was really really really bad, and it would be a stupid, short sighted decision by WPRO none-the-less. I do believe if WPRO made the un-wise decision to let Matt free, he would be hired by WHJJ if an offer was made. He would make an excellent PM drive host to go up against Dan Yorke, a place where WHJJ is currently lacking.

People should not doubt Clear Channel's ability to spend money and hire talent for certain scenarios. Yes they're in tough shape, but it's very easy for them to fire talent at another cluster and hire talent somewhere else if they feel that it would increase their bottom line overall - and I believe sales would go up for HJJ if they added more local talent, if it was the right person/people. The fact that you could get fired in Iowa because they want to hire in Providence is the ugly truth today in the world of deregulated corporate radio.

I'm not predicting any firings at WPRO but always felt DePetro has been on shakey ground since the ratings flap. Circumstances have prevented them from letting him go but I always felt even if the Arbitron controversy was the underlying reason, it couldn't be done as a result of that. The station would have to bide its time and come up with another reason or something as simple as a non renewal of his contract to mask the real reason. When you come down to it you're innocent until proven guilty and his wife did take the flap and all parties have to accept he had nothing to do with it and didn't know about it. Whether or not that's the case is immaterial. They can't cite the diaries as a reason to let him go but let's just say that time has been bided.

wpro makes money... nothing is going to happen...Maybe Babby Haynes gets fired,,thats it.. calm down everyone...go back to Day trading. geezzz.

How do you know WPRO makes money? Are you privy to the P & L? Watch for fourth quarter cancellations as Xmas sales fall flat and more companies will be staring at first quarter GOB's. When you have the Director of Sales on live in PM drive begging for orders does not tell me WPRO is swimming in positive cash flow.

The GM should have been fired long ago.

Citadel needs money. So don't doubt for a second that they will kill off any over inflated salaries no matter where they come from. As a matter of fact WPRO being a money maker could be the very reason Citadel fires a few over there. WPRO could be looked at as the station strong enough to survive a few lynchings since they will probably recover quickly. Before you know it..... CHOP CHOP CHOP Merry Christmas.

They only need 150Million? LOL. Star raising the money by SELLING the radio station cluster in Providence..hint hint.

You'll get no argument from this corner!

Matt, Dipitro and Yorke are all too much alike to put against each other on other stations. A LIBERAL is needed, trust me.
