Classic 93.1 70s and 80s It Is

Radio Online has an article quoting CC/Sacto's OM that it will be Classic playing 70s and 80s (just like Eagle, Mix, Jack, V101, etc.)

In the forthcoming PPM world, the Cume Friendly station wins.

Say goodbye to niche formats.

Clear Channel/Sacramento with SIX stations is probably one of the oldest skewing clusters around.

I now wonder about the future of Jack-FM....I guess if they keep it skewed 80's -90's...oh wait then were creeping into KGBY territory....hmmm.

Four gold heavy FM stations....and old news talk, and a talk station with a somewhat hip morning show.

Too bad for KCCL. But then again...they saddled themselves with minor league baseball for 140 days or so a year.
But KCCL plays 60's which the new 93.1 won't be playing. But will the New Classic 93.1 just be playing Rock, or will it ge Pop and R&B? That is why I love KCCL, The Blend Of Rock, Pop and R&B. Everyone at work loves listening to it.

But I thought Radio Stations nowadays are gearing for a younger audience and that is the reason for the Slow Deaths of such formats as Adult Standards and 50's Doo Wop Oldies? As for the future of Jack-FM, maybe they will pick up the Alternative Rock Format, unless KCCL jumps at the chance and dump their version of Classic Hits?

I hope they will include the Retro Classics from such bands as The Ramones, Devo, The Pet Shop Boys, Wall Of Voodoo, Adam Ant, The Waitresses, The Firm and Oingo Boingo! ;)

but doesn't jack FM do that already, why should the new classic 93.1 do this?

Unfortunately KQJK-93.7 doesn't reach down to Stockton like 93.1. But doesn't Jack also play some Classic Rock Hits songs that will be played on 93.1 like The Eagles, Supertramp, ELO and Styx?

Interesting point.

The Jack-FM here in LA is part the same family that programs classic hits KRTH. That company is CBS. At first glance...I thought okay maybe that's what's happening in Sacramento.

But, this seems to be a different situation. The new KHJQ or KCLZ seems to be heading into an "Arrow" direction which will share some the same library as Jack. I'm, wondering if Jack will be long for this world or it will be modified.

[/quote]Now I wonder if Jack maybe the next to go? I am actually wondering which station will pick up the Alternative Rock format recently abandoned by KWOD? Would it be KQJK? It would be funny if they do it as 93.7 was Alternative as HOWARD 93.7 at one time. Or would Results dump the Classic Hits format of KCCL? Or is Alternative pretty much history i

Isn't this station more like THE B(L)AND in SF? Perhaps CC wants to keep the Adult Hits format, but wanted to get out of the "Jack" licensing agreement and has to change formats on that signal to do so. As MRK asks, what then about Jack. I would think CC would look to their Premium Choice product line up to muscle something new into the market....Ryan Seacrest?

Could they have an axe to grind against CBS with what Amp is doing to KIIS here in LA?

This sounds like Lotus in Fresno KHIT 107.1 plays Classic hits 60s ,70s, and some 80s, more of a rock direction, even though they play some R&B. There sister station is KKBZ 105.1, that is Classic rock, but they play more 80s rock, heavy metal bands that KHIT 107.1 will not touch, and The Blaze KKBZ plays some 90s.

I actually like K-Hits 92.1 just a little more than the New Classic Hits 93.1. The only difference seems to be that K-Hits plays 60's & 70's while Classic Hits 93.1 plays 70's & 80's. Music though is really similar.

Classic Hits 93.1 doesn't play any 60's, Just 70's & 80's.

We've cracked the code and unlocked the vault," said OM ALAN EISENSON. "We've uncovered the biggest variety of the best hits of the '70s and '80s. CLASSIC 93.1 will take you on a journey you can't take any other way. Sing along with us. It will be the most fun you'll have all day."

Wow... what a visionary.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

The station's programming sounds like it's being delivered "Dial Global/Transtar" style minus the magic calls. Thank you Premium Choice! :( Generic Voice Tracks...Nice touch!

Hopefully, there's a few hundred dollars a month in the budget so they could get a localized VT morning show. :D

The music programming sounds pretty good though!
