Classic Country

Discovered this Classic Country while driving to Houston recently : http://www.countrylegends971.com/ They're now one of the stations that I listen to online at work. Here's the listen online link: http://streaming.countrylegends971.com/_players/coxradio/index.php?callsign=KTHTFM

Country Legends 97.1 just had its ninth birthday, an impressive feat for a signal that had a long list of failures prior to 2003. It's a rimshot, but the format fits the demographics in its coverage area.

It fades in and out in Bryan/College station. If there was any place in the state that needs some radio help it's Aggieland. ;D

Foggy Mountain on Iheart radio is pretty dang good itself

Who really cares? Dallas is not going to get a "Full Time" classic country station never not in a long while at least.

One of the reasons I started this thread is that DFW doesn't have a full time or at least certainly not a full market Classic Country. Thought this could be a source for good places to listen to Classic Country online.

People who like classic country care, and if we can't have it here local then we will choose other options to get it. i think that was the main focus on letting people know the options others have found...

And how in the heck do you know if DFW will get another Classic Country... Geesh!

At least we have alternatives ways to listen now. If not for Ipod, satellite & online we'd be stuck with the (for the most part) crap that is on the air in DFW.

I use a wifi radio that uses Reciva & it has a good variety.

I'd say Most of us are aware of KXEZ. Actually, 92.1's Signal is very poor in Dallas, It's Alright In Rockwall and points north though.
On top of that, the audio is extremely poor, nearly sounds like an AM station if not worse.

Garland is about the southern limit of clear reception of KXEZ. It's very spotty in almost any part of Dallas proper.

I can pick up KVRK easier here in Dallas right off of Mockingbird and I-35. The reason why is because their antenna is higher than both KHYI and KXEZ.

Yep, the audio is horrible, just like big brother KHYI IMO. From my place in SE Carrollton, I get KTFW better than KXEZ.

It still makes me laugh when today's "country" artists thank their influences like Merle Haggard, George Jones & Hank Williams at award shows.

Then dedicate their brilliant new single "Break Daincin' In The Cow Pasture" or "Heavy Metal Is What My Tractor's Made Of" to them. I'm sure Merle is really proud.
