classic hits coming to entercom

" Hi Gang. Just wanted to drop all a note inviting you to listen to a brand new Memphis /Mid south radio station debuting today at 2p. 94.1 is the signal....and yours truly will be handling the 6a - 10a shift beginning Monday with my little radio pal Karen Perrin. This should be a fun station...plenty of energy, good tunes and a bit irreverent. Check it out today at 2 and, if you would, maybe send this email to a few folks you think might be interested. I'm excited about this new station. I hope you like it! Sincerely, Steve"

Hopefully his pit bosses in Tunica won't have a problem with moonlighting on the side. Maybe like most folks, they won't even notice. On the one hand, it's hard to imagine "energy and good tunes," but the "irreverence" part seems spot-on. Good to see he'll have Karen there to carry the ball while he runs the board. My only advice is to keep a spare Horseshoe vest in the control room, because going home to change during rush hour is a pain. Someone should send an email to Cardinal Village so they can announce his return on the p.a. system during pudding time.

Entercom folks must be on the lookout for Garner Miller now. How was it Steve described her 2-3 months ago?

Well even if it's just a bunch of us radio folk listening at 2 pm, it sould be about 10X more listeners than they would have had.

Wonder how they will do it - "Snap - Crackle - POP! Here's your new <whatever>"?

So, dare I ask...

will we hear from "the one whose name shall not be spoken" praising the programming genius of Brad Carson???

I just had to poke it with a stick.... :p

Would seem like a waste of production room time for just the 6 or 7 folks on this board who are listening.

"The All-New Titanic 94.1" gets my vote for most appropriate nick.

WKQK. I am assuming there is not much fanfare.

"Bye Bye Bye" by N'Sync to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll" as a transition? Am I allowed to be sarcastic regarding this?

Best new sign on ever -- it was over in a SNAP!!!

Seriously - that just blew, and as someone around here said "WKQK - home of the Klan" we'll see how long this lasts.

To think, I interrupted "work" to listen to that.

Ya know, if someone there had a sense of humor - <yeah I know big IF> - they would have kicked off with Queen - "Another One Bites The Dust"

the stream is down, evern though the song indicator had the first song as Old Time Rock & Roll - Bob Seger, followed by Can't Get No Satisfaction by the Stones.

And so it begins...

A station with that many Ks in its name isn't likely to go over well in Memphis.

I suppose throwing in Earth Wind and Fire occasionally is the best apology they can muster.

I can't hear it here and the stream isn't working, but you all have posted some very funny stuff.
So...now that they now longer need a "Director of Rhythm," what sort of title will they give to "He Who Shall Not Be Mentioned" this time? Somebody there loves him, so maybe he stays...then what?

Mike and Mandy need some help? Maybe he could keep up with Bannister's alimony and child support accounts.
Maybe they could cut down on old Jerry having to wipe himself so much...

Just a thought...

;D

... as I was saying ...

AWFUL slogan. Why not Q94 or Q94.1? What's up with this KQK silliness?

UNBELIEVABLE promo that featured "listeners" singing along with their favorite "classic hits," like "We Will Rock You" and "COPACABANA" by BARRY MANILOW!

It just gets better and better.

For those not listening, I'll post the entire first hour at 3:00pm.

Despite Mr. Sticks "I'm crazy jealous because Steve has a career and I don't" posts, I am quite happy to see I now have a reason to listen to Memphis radio again...

And I am quite pleased it was done on 94.1, since I cannot really get 92.9 here in the abode.

Actually, I am quite happy to see I now have a reason to go back to Tunica again...
