The question about those guys' longevity belongs in one of those "Deep Question" introspection books that you read at a party to get to know what really makes people tick.

Like... at bunco parties?

Exactly...LOL. I'd always thought bunco parties ran their course sometime back in the 70s. Perhaps that story would have been more believable if it instead revolved around a "hootenanny." (Rapmaster, you can Google that if you care to.)

Okay...but do it with caution...

I Googled my Hootenanny once back in the 70's and couldn't make love for three weeks!

;D

So far they have yet to play a single song that I am not sick of.

You're probably just not in their demo. But then again, who is?

If anyone knows, lets round up all their listeners at the Waffle House on Summer for a Hootenanny.

Nothing like unique local programming to help stem the tide of listeners headed to satellite and ipod:

At least anyone passing through Memphis from Fort Worth, or a dozen other cities, will feel right at home.

(Note KQK about half way down.)

You guys in Memphis have fun ripping on it but if I know Entercom....
It is Entercom that is now valued by the public at just $53 million

Just to be fair...

Entercom (NASDAQ: ETM) is now valued at $ 39,624,880.

Didn't the Market go up today?

At this rate, any one of us here will soon be able to buy the company with just the loose change under our car seats!

If I buy the whole lot, I'd consider spinning off 94.1 for a couple of good seats to a Grizzlies game. Anyone up for that?

Was anybody else on board when the Titanic steamed out of Southampton this morning?

Mayday to engineering! Mayday to engineering! Steve and Karen's mics sounded real muddy and dull, like they were wrapped in blankets.

Brown-nose quote of the morning goes to Mr. Conley:

"The cool thing about the way management did this ... how they have constructed this radio station ... it's brilliant, it's absolutely brilliant. They've taken the best songs of all time and stuck 'em on one radio station."

Yeah, Steve. Brilliant.

Check those lifeboats -- there's an iceberg ahead.

Tom Kent does have a Memphis connection... he was a jock on WHBQ in 1974.

What lifeboats?!? Anyone who could jump ship probably already has - or should. Besides, the lifeboats were probably the first things cut - I mean if they are only used when the ship sinks then they won't get much use. And if you sink a ship, who would put you in charge of another one.

Unlike sinking radio stations.

HAHAHAHAHA! ;D

Brown-Nose Quote of the Morning....more like the decade!
Never too early to start "kissin' that thang!" 'Cause you don't know how quick this operation is going down.
If you get yer smooches in early, maybe you can bank some and stay involved in the next form.
But if Steve is going to so it right-he probably needs to learn from "He whose name shall not be mentioned."
Obviously, he's got it going on to remain employed through all the incarnations whose failures he has personally been involved in.
(It's like hiring the Captain of the Exxon Valdez-or Titanic- over and over again, to steer the New Ships)

Hey...you can't blame Steve. It's hard out there for a Casino Greeter these days. There's not that many people gambling to greet.

"All congratulatory comments, all the time...(chorus) the everything to everybody--we hope--KQK!"

I guess they (Steve) must feel the new listeners (all 3 of them) need to be indoctrinated into the man, the myth, the legend, the casino greeter.

If Steve ever gets over himself, will someone post a note on this board letting us know about it?

I guess the over the top brown nosing is ok, since it does for a brief moment make him seem more human.

I listened to Steve and Karen this morning.

They repeated a conversation with GK from yesterday, Steve did his best to call the station "FM100" instead of 94.1 and he did many breaks where he only gave time and temp.

I was glued to my chair by the amazing amount of showprep.

Below post needs to be read as if you are former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Mora at a news conference:

Show prep? Did you say show prep? Show prep? Are you kiddin' me? Show prep? Don't talk about show prep!

Methinks there be too much protest over this little mushroom in the basement of Memphis radio! Why all the knocks? If somebody wants to try and succeed here, more power to them. Busting their chops smacks too much of tricycle lip to me. Did the big bad FM 100 scare your mommy when she was carrying you or what?

I'm as sarcastic as any 10 of you regular writers, but this nonstop rant has wearied me.

You're all just mad 'cause the Classic Hits station reminds you of the last time you were on-air.
Back when they were called 'Top-40 hits'

People are so negative on this board.

Eat a pot brownie.

You may just be onto something. Perhaps they should rename the station, WTAT. (Time-And-Temp.)

The key to their success will ultimately depend on their ability to scoop other stations with upcoming school lunch menus.

In Steves defense...

Being booted out at the same time when CBS sold to Entercom and having to do what I had to do to make ends meat until the next gig came through.... GIVE THE GUY A FREAKING BREAK!!!!

He has been on the beach for two years now. Do you really expect him to come in with guns blazing after a two year layoff??? This is a hard gig and anyone that does GOOD RADIO knows that.. You just dont step in and set the world on fire, there is a warm up period.. thats good for the personalities and the audience.

How dare you dog him for doing what he had to do to support his family while he was out of a job! I think it takes a very strong man to put his ego aside and do what needs to be done to pay the bills.

Its called humility and it builds a stronger person.

While all you do is troll nameless and faceless on an internet message board.

If you were doing radio NOW you would know that its hard enough trying to survive in todays incredibley competitive enviroment. I had a PD buddy of mine send out a blind ad for a medium size market afternoon gig and recieved over 180 tapes!!! Lots from major market talent...

Get a life.

Good luck Steve.

Im sure you will do great!!!
