Just how long will it take for a smart Charlotte operator to figure out that the city has a need for an oldies based Classic Hits station? Clear Channel has done it in some markets, CBS wins across the country in some markets, and some independents are doing the same thing. Is there a need? Is there an operator who will take the plunge and reep the benefits? The PPM has clearly shown that the old diary methods were not necessarily that accurate but it appears that many of the broadcast operators are still holding on to the old diary thoughts. Somebody in Charlotte will wake up one morning and make this switch to ratings and revenue success.
