Classic Soul 94.7 & 1600 WXXY

To answer the question I asked. :p

It sounds like a good mix to me as I'm listening to Lionel Richie as I type this (I heard Gino Vanelli in the car about 10 minutes ago). The AM is running what's on the FM with a 40 second delay (as I type this 3:37 9/19/08). They identify themselves as WXXY(no FM or AM).

That said, it doesn't look good for this station. :(

WXXY-FM is 88.7 an FM radio station located in Port Republic, New Jersey.

98.7 is W254AT licenced in Smyrna with its stick just south of Woodside (south of Dover). I'm hoping this has become a full power station as I can't see it translating WXXY-AM 1600 AM in Dover in stereo HiFi AND 40 seconds in the future.

That's if the FCC has approved FM translators used with AM stations. If anyone has any info on this as well as translators getting their signals other than OTA I'd like to know.

Just a heads up to a good radio station. Enjoy it while it lasts. :-\

I need to revise this, information to follow.

The following is how I modified the post, but the modifications weren't applied. This is the proper post.

98.7 was recently sold to WXXY BROADCASTING, INC. at [email protected] with

Exhibit 15
Description: POST-CLOSING REBROADCAST PLAN

AMENDMENT OF AUGUST 29, 2008:

UPON CONSUMMATION OF THIS ASSIGNMENT APPLICATION, WXXY BROADCASTING, INC. WILL REBROADCAST WGXM-FM (PORT REPUBLIC, NJ) OVER W254AT VIA PICKUP FROM INTERMEDIARY TRANSLATOR STATION W282AU (LEWES, DE).

WGXM-FM was WXXY-FM with new call letters as of 06/17/2008 and it appears they are continuing the gospel music format.

Just a heads up to a good radio station. Enjoy it while it lasts. :-\

I'm hoping 1600 stays funky ;) but I doubt it. :'(

Further update.

W282AU: stick due south of Lewes & due east of Rehoboth Beach is 104.3 FM. Same as Channel 104.3 Baltimore. Sounds like some fancy reception IMHO ::) !

Re: Classic Soul 98.7 & 1600 WXXY

98.7 W254at is a fill-in translator and programming can be fed by STL, internet or T1. 1600 WXXY has a STA to re-broadcast on W254at. The station is Classic Soul hits of the 60's,70's and 80's. 1600 AM has been a Urban station since 1997. WGXM 88.7 is operating under a LMA with a purchase option. Many AM station are now broadcasting of FM translators.
