I have heard "Sausalito Summernight" by Diesel many, many times on WMMX/Mix 107.7 Dayton, usually on Jeff Stevens' "Time Warp Cafe" weekday request show...You can also hear Planet P's "Why Me" on there as well, which hit no higher than #64...Also Saga's "On the Loose" from '83 as well.
Anyhow, Kevin is right on his post...dead on. I am a big fan of 80s alternative music, but how many other people out there want to listen to songs like "Stand or Fall" by The Fixx besides me? BTW Kevin, what were those ratings on "The Deep End" back in your STAR days? You have to give Kevin and STAR credit where credit is due...at least they GAVE you guys alternative 80s music...STAR was a great station no doubt about it...STAR was one in a million. Great station, great jocks, LOTS of great music and fun. I was just listening to an old tape of them a couple of days ago and I was blown away...EVERYONE that worked there had a passion for the station...You could hear it coming through the speakers. I also seriously doubt 91.5 will stick with 80s(We can all hope though, can't we?), especially since the signal is non-comm.

For the record: The Deep End, for the most part, did pretty well for us. Frankly, it was our way of being able to play some of the alternative songs that just didn't test well for us and give the station what I like to call "illusion of depth."
And I admit, I stole the program's name from the 80's channel in Chicago, which did a similar feature. (I wanted to acknowledge this in case Chris Shebel, who was PD there, ever read this.)
By the way, if you have some tapes of Star, you might want to contact Vince Riley at star1079.com...I'm sure he'd be
very interested in getting a copy.
