WLS is out of the question. They're already at their ownership limit in Chicago. That is unless they sell one off.

Umm.... No brainer.

WLS or WRLL
WLS or WGRB

LMA?

Or even sell it off to another company in an agreement to run it for them (One of the smaller stations)?
______________

WLS and WABC are already programmed pretty much like CC programs talk stations, so there would be little change. In Chicago, they would have to sell something, which would be WRLL.

In LA, they already have 3 AMs, and already have the talk blowtorch KFI. But they would probably keep KABC pretty much as is, maybe with more CC syndicated shows, and if they had to get rid of an AM, sell off their liberal talk station on 1150.

Don`t forget, as Feder referenced earlier today, ABC may keep
Radio Disney and ESPN for their name brands, which means, in
Chicago, only WLS and sister station WZZN would be up for sale.
That may explain why ABC has lost interest in tweaking 94.7,
even though the station is once again hitting rock bottom in
the Arbitrons.

I'f I'm not mistaken, in the largest markets such as Chicago, the max is 8. They're already at the max on the FM dial of 5, and they have 2 AM stations. So actually they can own 1 more AM before they're at their limit. Cincinnati is a market where CC is at the max of 8 stations (4 FM & 4 AM). But if ABC is smart, they'll keep the 2 50kw AM stations and put Radio Disney on one of the signals, and sell the weaker 1300. So who knows what ABC has planned.

If they're not going to sell ESPN Radio, WMVP probably won't go Radio Disney. WLS for sure won't go Radio Disney. 94.7 is a possible canidate, considering Radio Disney is a music network.

Radio Disney on FM would probably get better numbers than the Zone has :-O
______________

But would ABC put Radio Disney on an FM, full-market signal, in the third largest market in the country, after they consider how much they could sell 94.7 for? Although it would be the best place for the station considering that they'll probably keep two frequencies, for ESPN and Radio Disney, I'd think that knowing how much 94.7 is worth would keep them from putting Radio Disney on the FM.

Additionally, I don't believe that Disney has a single O&O station that is on the FM dial.

890 or 1000 are worth far more to ABC on the seller's market
than they would ever be running Radio Disney on either of
those facilities.

I wonder if someone at CC has the nads to flip a station like LS to a Real Oldies type of format? Maybe they would move the talk to 94.7???

If they did flip it, it would have to be a very powerful lineup of personalities, with Lujack, et al, anchoring morning drive. As much as I don't like him, maybe put Winston on afternoons?

I think there is one in Indianapolis, outskirts of town that does make the Arbys.
______________

100.1 WDZN Cumberland, Maryland (Their first FM. Been there since the 90s. Licenced to Romney, WV and has a translator I think)

98.3 WRDZ-FM Indianapolis

99.5 KDIS-FM Little Rock (Formerly on 1380)

96.7 WOLF-FM Oswego, NY (Simmulcasts with the rest of the Syracuse area Radio Disney stations.)

100.3 WBGJ Sylvan Beach, NY (Syracuse market)

102.1 WQUA Mobila, AL market

Oops. I see that they have quite a few. But putting Radio Disney on 94.7 would be the first major-market FM signal to do such a format. As others have said, with many listeners relocating to satellite radio, the FM dial is becoming more diversified with ethnic and other niche stations. Perhaps Radio Disney would work somewhat on the FM dial. But I'm thinking that the profit from the sale of 94.7 WZZN would yield far more than the profits of Radio Disney would.

Why would CC (or anyone else) take one of the highest rated formats in Chicago (talk on WLS) and replace it with one of the lowest, Real Oldies on WRLL?

Justin,

RD is not on to, per say, make a profit. If it does, it is bonus, but ABC/Disney use it to push the whole DISNEY brand name. It is actually 1 big commercial when you think about it! That is the real reason for Radio Disney!
______________

Certainly. In fact, I've heard little more than live remote broadcasts from Disney World, music from Disney artists (one week, Hilary Duff had 6 songs in the top 30), and Disney stories read around noon. All of the stations near me (550 WDDZ/Providence, 1260 WMKI/Boston, at night 1560 WQEW/New York) are O&O, and air commercial loads full of ads for Disney movies and The Disney Store. I'm interested what non-O&O stations get out of the entire deal, does Disney pay them to run it?

However, my point is that 94.7 could bring in far more dollars for Disney being sold to someone else than were Disney to retain and utilize the frequency to help build corporate branding and therefore increase sales of Disney products, ticket sales at Disney movies, and sales of Walt Disney Records/Hollywood Records artists in the Chicagoland area.

Plus, if Disney was going to put Radio Disney on 94.7, wouldn't they have done it already?

LOL! Your guess is as good as theirs!!!!!!

It took them 4 years and some change left over, to settle on this format. It has been one big tweak over there since they ditched Classic Rock in 2000. Their ratings nor revenue have recovered since.
______________
