I don't necessarily believe that ALL "mom and pop owned radio stations" are (or WERE) outstanding! However, most seemed to be more a concerned about the wellbeing of their staff....than the "suits" who look at a cost run sheet and terminate 2 dozen radio staff members without any warning. ;D
Granted...a "small percentage" of practically any staff can be eliminated and those jobs can be consolidated. But I've noticed that there's a lack of "I'll be happy to write you a letter of reference until you land something else" much less a THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT WORK YOU DID FOR US! :-X
Isn't it interesting how quickly APPRECIATION for talent and loyalty can instantly change to EMPLOYEE ALIENATION when it's based on a radio station's cos-run sheet or it's "bottom-line?"
