Clear Channel Cuts on Jan. 20th?

According to Radioandrecords PD Chaz was part of Cheap Channels bloodbath firing spree today!

KC gained over three points 12 + last book and probably did very well in the target demos. How do you explain that?
Not saying just the music. Something changed?????? And they benefited from it.

KC101 has made tremendous growth over the last two years, with gains every single book. You can only explain her removal by the typical incompetent management in Hartford not having a clue what goes on in New Haven, coupled with new owners who are only interested in getting their billions back.

From R&R

Clear Channel/New Haven, Conn., marketing & promo director Kelly Colonghi has been let go and can be e-mailed at ___

After a little over a year at alternative WURH (fm104one)/Hartford, PD Becky Pohotsky was let go. After a three-year run as APD/midday jock at rock sister WGIR-FM (Rock 101)/Manchester, N.H., she joined fm104one in November 2007 as APD and was upped to PD in April 2008. Reach her at ___

Well, the truth is in the Clear Channel statement: "national programming model" or "NPM." What that means is that Clear Channel will attempt to save $$ by basically doing what satellite radio does...have national "channels/formats" except the only difference is they will do it terrestrially and will still probably insert local spots. Don't be surprised to hear KC-101 become a translator of a national format with a national moniker. They'll just "whisper" the calls at the top of the hour and maybe call it "The Super Hits Channel."

Then, all the PD's around the country will be unemployed except those that apply for PD positions with the NPM's.

Ain't radio great!

And we can thank all those "consultants" or "radio doctors" who tried to fix something that wasn't really broke (local radio) by homogenizing it. In the end , those very PD's who thought they knew everything have eliminated others jobs as well as theirs! Way to go "Mr. Radio Doctor" (and you Radio Doctor's know who you are!)

Consultants have ruined radio. I remember back in the early 90's when KC hired a Consultant (don't wanna name drop so I'll use his initials GZ) to pull some of PLR's 18-34 male numbers. So we started playing some classic rock tunes in light rotation. From Noon to midnight. Probably a couple an hour. Biggest mistake ever! KC had a horrible book. We lost more listeners than we were ever going to gain. That's just one example. Consultants are too rigid. They stifle crestivity and freedom of expression.

Didn't Clear Channel have specifically name radio formats custom made for XM years ago? Names like Kiss-FM, Sunny and so on?

Looks to me that American radio is going to be like radio in the UK with many national networked stations (and it's hasn't been this deep for that long, aside from the BBC networks) I wonder if the names taken on will be the same, they already have Kiss, how about radio 1 or radio 2, or maybe some of the names of the non-BBC networks like Galaxy, Heart, Magic (wait, they have that here already!), Star (wait, that one too!) Sunshine, Virgin and so on...

After the first really good Arb book that KC has had in a while, CC management decides to layoff people. NICE!
That's how to reward people. CC great way to boost company morale. What's next? Take away vacations and sick time???
