Wow, I never thought of it the way you have. You're absolutely right. A board op is every bit as important as the GM. And, the back up kicker on the football team is every bit as important as the quarterback. And, the roadie is every bit as important as the lead singer. And, the cup holder is every bit as important as the tires.

Your so right...everybody is as important as everybody.

It baffles me how ignorant some of you folks are to the most elementary basics of buisiness. PLEASE - WHAT PLANET ARE YOU PEOPLE ON. IF YOU DON'T LIKE FOR-PROFIT BUSINESSES, GET ON THE NPR BOARDS. Should CC apologize for trying to improve it's profitability? I've been fired 4 times and it's always lead to better things. It will probably happen the same way for those folks. But, please, save this Stewart Smally crap.

Yes, some of this happened because PPM wasn't very kind to the AM stations.

But that's not all. Clear Channel recently sold off a TON of it's smaller stations, because they "didn't generate enough profit."

And... the station wanted to make sure they were running where they could generate the most profit. ...Stocks, schmocks. Those won't matter very much soon.

I want to clarify that everyone "let go" had important jobs. The person above me says they didn't do anything for the stations... and that's bull, because everyone else now has to try to take on the work they did... as if they weren't worked like a sweat shop before.

And you guys didn't get all the names of people fired...

Any job is important. Those who say they were unimportant are not important themselves.
That being said, corporations are corporations and if you work for one, you are at the mercy of a business model and another unit operating at a $0.05 profit higher than yours and the higher ups wanting to copy that model and implement it. To believe otherwise is naive.

It isn't right but it is the way it is.
 
For the record...5 total...Dukes, Kat Cortez, Cruz, a news reporter that moved down here 6 months ago from outta state for the job and overnight board-op that had been with CC for about 20 years. Merry early Christmas everyone!!
