Cleveland TV Revolving Door

How about "Action 3 News"? Hackneyed but descriptive.
Or to remain oblique but hip, "Whassup, Dude at 5" or "Some happenin' Stuff at 6".
Collective yawn. And where will these newscasts be produced? South Carolina?
I'm not excited.

Radio Cleveland is 35th, TV is 19th (8th biggest DMA with Lorain and Akron)...not anything to sneeze at...there are 246 radio markets, and 210 TV markets...lots of people are getting out of the biz...I see tons on FB announcing they are "spending more time with family" or "Husband got a great opportunity in ____" or a "new job with ________ PR Firm/Hospital Group/Local homeless shelter" Happening everywhere, its like they decide that 22k a year to work 60+ hrs a week with 3 "DIY" shows with no directors or producers, just the anchor and a meteorologist or sports person. Who wouldnt want to keep doing THAT?

Betsy posted on her Facebook about a "debut" November 10th. Some are guessing Mark Johnson.

It will be interesting to see how they handle three top Meteorologists at one station.

Yes. The Cleveland TV market includes Akron and Canton. In the radio ratings, Akron and Canton are separate ratings books.

I hope that's her choice. I noticed she has been doing Noon weather too. Maybe she changed her hours to get home earlier?
Weekenders Anthony Copeland and Jessica Van Meter now share noon duties...Betsy did it to start just to debut the new noon newscast with some star power.

I hate to sound harsh. But I hope all this change improves Channel 3's ratings and Channel 5 takes a hit. I never agreed with how Mark Johnson was dismissed at WEWS.
I've already seen on Facebook people saying they have switched to Ch. 3. We will never get the truth on why he was let go. I think it was a $$ thing. If it was anything bad, TEGNA wouldn't have hired him, imo. Ch. 5 has nobody good anymore. It was a dumb move on Ch. 5's part.

I'm not a fan of how the news is presented on WKYC, but why is the satellite image on the weather radar in black & white? I do give them credit for still having their meteorologists stand in front of a green screen rather than nine flat panel displays pieced together to form one giant display that doesn't even fill the frame of the broadcast.

Who is now doing weather on evenings at WEWS? Also, what is current anchor lineup for all of the stations just to keep score?
Katie McGraw has been doing evenings since MJs firing, though she is ready to go on maternity leave as the bun in the oven is just about ready to come out.

TIME TO SWITCH THE ALARMS: It’s the first Sunday of 2026, and my final Sunday as weekend morning anchor. Starting tomorrow, I move into my new role as 10pm anchor here at Fox 8!
I’m excited for this move and very proud of where my 15-year TV news career has taken me. I hope my weekend morning friends will stay up a little later Monday–Friday to catch me, Elizabeth Noreika, and Mackenzie Bart at 10!

Both Tracy McCool and Lou Maglio have been at channel 8 forever ‐‐ plus Lou also had a good run at channel 5.

I wonder if they are slowly being shown the door? But then again, Wayne Dawson has been there longer then either of them and he's back on the morning show.
