The new guy is also doing the same work for WBNX.
No surprise there. The old announcer was doing the same as well when Nexstar took over WBNX.
Gabe is not on at noon, it's now Joe Tooey, bunch of other changes at Fox 8.
Beau Weaver retired at the end of last year. Nexstar has a groupwide contract with SpotVoice, and tabbed Will Michaels as the main imaging voice. Promos are still contracted out to Jeff Laurence and Chuck Matthews of Who Did That Media.
Speaking of WJW, former meteorologist Melissa Mack is now freelancing at WBNS 10TV in Columbus (sister station to WKYC).
Sam Roberts, Meteorologist Ch. 19, WOIO last day was Friday, She was there 10 years.
I expect cuts to start happening at 3 & 8 very soon, the TEGNA/Nexstar merger appears to be going through. WGN just cut eight top anchors and reporters yesterday they are a Nexstar station.

Former WKYC meteorologist Hollie Strano is returning to Cleveland market after a DUI arrest and cancer diagnosis.
Well, technically there is a channel 13 in Cleveland, but they have no local presence and their signal is so abysmal that only a few viewers can receive it on their outdoor antennas.
I'm guessing that this channel 13 that's referred to in that article is some sort of community cable operated station that's using fake call letters. I'm surprised that they can get away with billing themselves as an OTA broadcast station that doesn't exist. Punching in WCTU in rabbitears.info brings up a low power station in Pensacola, Florida.

Maybe Hollie just wanted to focus on digital and seems to enjoy what she is doing now.
Or is just paying her dues/rebuilding her rep until a big station comes a-calling
Uncle Perry and his minions from Nexstar have yet to slash the staffs of 3 and 8 in preparation of the merger with Tegna. Unfortunately it's coming, so there will be many meteorologists in Cleveland that will be looking for work soon.
Anchors too. Some think we are headed towards a one anchor newscast industry.
