CMT airs The Terminator

CMT has a secondary channel "CMT Pure Country" that airs 24/7 music videos. I know Verizon Fios carries it. I wonder if it's a standard cable channel in the South where country is most popular.

CMT Pure Country is part of the digital preferred programming tier from Comcast in Mobile, Alabama.

Dime a dozen movies that appeal to the demo you're looking to attract? These networks could do away with them, quite frankly. Anyone ever hear of Netflix?

Don't need restaurants because I have a kitchen at home. Yet for some reason, people still go to restaurants.

CMT has been trying to skew younger, and it makes sense to chase your audience by going after the demographic that watches your channel, rather than sticking to some rigid programming.

Last year, country music become the #2 most popular music radio format amongst teenagers after CHR. There are a dirth of young country stars, and its starting to see a renaissance like it did in the early 90s. MTV remains so popular amongst teens because it not only offers them music and celebrities but it offers them programming that they care about- even if its reality programming that you don't personally like. Teen Mom and Jersey Shore consistently are the most watched shows in the 12 to 17 age group- above anything else on tv, including broadcast TV. CMT would be downright foolish to now follow their corporate sibling down the same path to success by more broadly appealing to their potential audience.

Country music fans are less likely to have broadband, they are more likely to use older or possibly obsolete technology

Based on actual observed measurement...or ill-informed stereotype? (I think we know the answer.)

I think its both in this case- a stereotype that proves true. Broadband still isn't available in many rural parts of the nation, and while not all country music fans live in rural areas, most rural areas have greater proportions of country music fans.

For the record, what is considered obsolete technology today? I was thinking of going to buy a new iPad today, but I'm sure it will be obsolete by Monday :)

I was talking about old media like terrestrial radio

How does Arnold appeal to hicks? CMT no longer plays country music, like MTV no longer plays music. Expect hick reality shows on CMT like "Gulf Shore".
Hicks are not girly men. At leastr the stereotypes aren't.

In my case, other people cook better than I do.

They can do that with more "Country Fried Home Videos" reruns. Showing "National Lampoon" and other random movies is not the way to go, IMHO. When you think CMT, you think "country." I doubt anyone thinks of "country" when they think Sarah Conner.

According to an email I got, CMT ran some original movie called "Whiskey Business" over the weekend.
Starring Pauly Shore.
They are definitely branching out.

They've done a series of original movies. Toby Keith did two movies for them. They also did a bio-pic on Dale Earnhardt.
