An anti-venom post today...

I was trading email with a radio vet yesterday and it occured to me just how many really good guys are in or have come through this city over the years and had some effect on me. Here's a list, in no particular order and likely incomplete so feel free to add yours.

Bob Conners, is was and always will be the Monarch.

"Uncle" Joe Cunningham 920 WMNI, didn't know a stranger.

Brian Stevens-(murdered by Jerry Hessler) made a call and got me into my first on-air gig.

Don Shannon-still around and still a great human.

Scott Haskins, my first PD. As big as a house, as strong as an ox and as gentle as they come.

Steve "Boom Boom" Cannon...frantic sometimes, but a wonderful person. I loved being around him.

Mike J. Roebuck-just one of those "good guys" that we need more of.

The late Tom Locicero, a strong personality with a big heart. Saying his name still makes me smile.

The late Spook Beckman, wow. I used to take the bus downtown to watch him in the bumper room.

The late Dick Zipf-a true gentle-man.

Sean Anthony-what a kid! guy! Geez he's a grown man now, isn't he?! Hardworking, focused and genuine.

Greg Jordon-the inspiration for my vocal chords! Got to know him and had to love him-so willing 2B helpful!

Mark "Daniels" Pennell, Dave Ryan, Chris Shebel, Tom Kelly---the morning guys that molded the mind of this morning guy...Thanks for doing what you did in a place where I could hear it!

I'm sure Ill think of someone else as soon as I post this, but that's a start!

I recall the tragic Jerry Hessler murders, but the name of Brian Stevens is unfamiliar to me. Who was he? I'm hesitant to resurrect the sad Hessler incident, but weren't his victims former Bank One co-workers?

Steve Edwards
Tony Coles
Matt McCoy
Joel Riley
Mark "the Shark" Howell
Scott McKenzie
Suzy Waud
Jason Roberts

989,

I'll echo sentiments about a few of those names: Don Shannon, Greg Jordan, Bob Connors, all very good people. JB Crenshaw is a good guy as well. Sean is well deserving of all his success, (isn't he in Detroit?)

Gary Moss was a nice guy, as I recall. Al Fetch, Hal Fish, also should be added to that list. (Perhaps I've dated myself, or worse... but, nice to give compliments on a board like this, from time to time)

Hollis-Tony Coles is one I forgot. Thanks for that reminder!

Roo-Brian was on K95 7-midnight when the France family owned the station. He married a Bank One employee and they had just had their first child when he was killed answering the door.

Side-Sean is in Columbus...for the moment. He's working on something new.

Wow, thanks for jogging my memory on this post...Is Scott Haskins still in the Columbus area??? He used to live up the road from me in Clintonville...he also was my successor as ND at WLOH in Lancaster (stint number 2 out of 3 I believe.) Talk about a super guy!

I've got some other names for ya'll....

Max and Jeff (K-95 mornings - early to late 90's)
Teri (nights on K-95 during that same period)
Stephanie Beougher ND WHOK-WLOH (same period) (she used to have the nickname of The Ice Queen, but I never had a problem with her)

A lot of excellent choices! I would add to the list:

Jeff Martin

Rob Ellis

Blake Thunder

Scott James

Mark Bingaman

Top of the class-

Andy Clark
Michael McCoy
Dave Robbins
Tony Coles
John Crenshaw
Chris Davis
Don Shannon
Joe Boxer
Rob Ellis
Cary P.
Mark Bingaman
George W.
Miss Lisa

Nice idea, 989...

Whatever happened to Mark Lavin? He was on mornings at WCOL and WBNS.

Few more-did you all forget-

Chuck Patterson
Dennis Cametti
Don Cristi
Dave Starkey
Tyler J.
hard workers and talented and I thought they should be included too. I'm done!

I would like to second the mention of Mark "the Shark" Howell...nothing but class...I would also like to add John Corby and Larry Larson from WTVN...

Mark Lavin is the morning show producer at k92 in Orlando. You can check him out at k92.com. If you have seen the new Tiger Woods Wii commercial, make is in it too.

"STEREO QUAD" SUSIE WAUD on the old 92-X..SHE ROCKED!!!!

in no particular order: dan morris, jay solomon, bob singleton, bill caradis, tom simkins, john sines, bill pugh, bob gooding, steve buzza, tip carpenter, jim krebs, dick geary, bill taylor, terry wilson, dave bishop, brian mcintyre, bill dancer, gary spears

just some of the people who were wandering the halls at broad and young when i landed there in the mid 70s or thereafter and not mentioned in previous posts.

thanks for starting the thread and bringing back some memories.

Two names I haven't seen on this list yet-

John LaPolla- Great newscaster and a genuinely nice guy.

Neil (Martin) Shapiro- Ex WCOL FM announcer and later sales person- coined the phrase (on the air)
Great F***in' Record.

I'll also toss in Marty James (now at WMVO) and Mary Major (BET and other National TV).
