Columbus Radio Good Guys

Whatever happened to Sharon (or was it Susan) Eisenhower. God I loved her voice late at night! I always wondered what she looked like!

Anyone remember Tonya Milano from Sunny 95? She did the overnights in the 90's and then moved to 106.1 in Mansfield I think. Anyone know what's up with her now?

Gotta go with Kristi Kemper. As a bar owner she makes everyone feel as if they have been friends for years!

gotta add: chuck knight, joe dawson, big bob nunally, danny wright, andrew wright, jon zellner....

i've gotta disagree with you on Andrew Wright. if it were another topic perhaps, but NOT under Columbus Radio Good Guys. that no-talent *** not only sounds like a large obstruction is lodged in his throat, but he's not done much at all for Columbus radio in my opinion.

i'm suprised to not only know so many jocks listed, but to have had the pleasure to work with. Brian was by far the nicest guy I'd ever met in radio. The year was 1990 and I'd just recovered from a long battle with cancer. I'd also just graduated high school. Getting into radio was one of the FIRST things I wanted to do after getting back on my feet. Brian was extremely helpful and definitely helped me become what I am today.
It was definitely a sad day learning about his death on TV that day.

Terri Ross who I worked with at K95 was on Sunny 95 overnights. I used to talk to her now & then, but it's been awhile. I'm not sure if she's still there or if she's moved on.

Go way back...to when WVKO-FM wasn't yet stereo and just flipped to Sunny 95. Afternooner Brian Patrick...now Brian Peck of the Mix in Chicago. Hey how about John Symons and his Love Songs show?

A few I just thought of:

Jane London (WSNY), Chuck Adkins (WBBY), Tom Wieble (WOSU), Eddie Saunders (WVKO) and Gail Hogan (WLVQ).

Does anyone know where Jon Zellner is now?

Speaking of WVKO-FM, don't forget Kirk Bishop. I used to enjoy his "Blue Monday" shows.

"KB" was great. At one time he was on then-Top 40 WCOL-AM, too (as a weekender, I believe)...and of course WVKO-AM. It's a shame he passed away at too young an age.

BTW, it looks like this thread has turned into, "who has ever been in Columbus radio?"

Let's mention these guys. Who else are we missing?

I learned a lot from John Symons when at Sunny 95. He was truly one of the great ones, extremely talented, and a nice guy on & off the air. I filled in for him on a few ocassions and had even more respect for him then. You can catch John in Chicago. He had been working for Windy 100, but that station is now LOVE FM and I have no clue if he's still there or not.

For its first two or three months, "Love FM" will air without announcers. The only holdover from WNND is John Symons, who will host a revamped version of his "Love Notes" evening show.

I didn't see anyone mention "The Real Steve Edwards, John L(ane), Mike O'Malley or Beth Keppel. The last I heard, Beth was in Atlanta at 96 Rock. A few other come to mind. How about Tim Hodges or Dr. Rick West. Dr. Rick owns a pub in Port Clinton, Ohio while the former owner of Buzzard's Nest Records has a novelty store just down the street from Dr. Rick's.

He hasn't been on WILV (formerly WNND) for at least a year now.  Don't know his whereabouts.

Since I didn't see his name in any other postings, I would like to add former PD Buddy Scott of WCOL-WXGT. Very nice guy! In my dealings with him, he always impressed me.

In another thread, CatFM mentioned the great liners Gary Gears did for stations around the country in his WLS days.

That name reminded me of Gary Spears (who also did a stint at WLS), and what a great lineup 92X had when he and Dave Robbins were there.  I think they were both also at CBS's WBBM-FM Chicago in the early 80s when Mike Joseph's Hot Hits format caught fire in the Windy City as B96.

This also reminds me of the time in the 90's when Robbins, who was then with NCI & Nationwide, turned down an offer from ABC to move back to Chicago because his acceptance  was conditional on his being able to switch their FM to Top 40 under the WLS calls.  But ABC refused to do that.  I forget what 94.7's format was at the time...they've been through so many.
