Comcast CEO: We Won't "Comcastize" NBCU If Merger Goes Through

Comcast CEO/chairman Brian Roberts commented on the proposed merger between his company and NBC Universal at a cable television convention in Los Angeles. Roberts promised attendants that if the merger is approved, "We are not going to try to 'Comcastize' NBC Universal... We don't have a 'Comcast way,' so to speak."

The Comcast Way of doing things is to hike up rates while providing nothing to substantiate the increase all the while making the service in "Customer Service" laughable and nonexistent . I don't see that coming to a foreseeable end, ever.

Maybe they should think about it. At least a little bit. Overall, NBC-Universal is doing a pretty crappy job of running their various properties. It would actually be fun to see some high-level firings at NBC-U.

Well, you know that eventually, Jeff Zucker's going to get the boot. Maybe the process will be escalated if somebody puts together a fan page on Facebook for it... ::)

we're talking about a company that installed Waterless Urinals in all of the mens rooms in their new
Philadelphia headquarters, and them plumbed them all to placate the local Plumbers Union. 'Nuff said.

I don't think you can exactly blame Comcast for that, probably more the developer caving on that issue.

Comcast isn't that bad of a cable company actually. I remember over here in Southern California we had Comcast for years and I can't complain about their customer service or their programming at all. Their ON-DEMAND selections are out of this world! On the other hand, when Time Warner Cable took over my area, it was horrible which lead me to switch to Dish...

I can tell you story after story about horrible Comcast service. Prior to Comcast, the cable company was ATT, TCI, Prime and not ONE TIME, did I have issues with cable. When Comcast took over it became an every other month thing.

One time Comcast went into my building and disconnected everyone. When I called, they said, "Too many people are stealing cable in your building, so we disconnected everyone, and when you call back we will know if your legit and can reconnect you."

WHAT??? I said, "You have my name, my account number, my flat number, and the cable lines are tagged." "Why are you disconnecting a paying customer, that you KNOW and can identify as such?"

Then it took four days to get reconnected. Comcast would make an appointment and never show up. When I asked about their guarantee on their website, they replied, "Sir that obviously doesn't apply too people who steal cable." When I pointed out I wasn't stealing, they said, "But people in your building are, so we aren't going to honor that guarantee, while people are stealing."

And I could go ON and ON about horrible Comcast service and disconnects.

The only thing Comcast is good for is their Internet deals. Every six months, I call AT&T, from which I have DSL, and I say "I'm going to cancel my AT&T DSL and go to Comcast, unless you can match Comcast's price." Then AT&T matches it

:)

Maybe Comcast's customer service depends on where you live. I've had cable for many years because I live in a poor reception area. Originally, it was Viacom, which sold out to TCI, which was acquired by AT&T, whose cable operations were bought by Comcast about 8 or 10 years ago.

Each company has had successively better connectivity and customer service. Viacom Cable was absolutely horrible - the reception went out all the time...just a little wind or rain was all it took. Their customer service representatives were rude and unresponsive.

Each cable entitly since has been better than the one before it - Comcast is the best so far. I have no complaints about Comcast whatsover...other than the monthly bill, which gets higher all the time, unfortunately.

As bad as NBC-U is, maybe "Comcastizing" it is what needs to happen!

I can turthfully say that I have never had a complaint about COMCAST service. Hopefully, maybe they will restore the Weather Channel to what it once was.

If the "Comcastization" of The Weather Channel involves the cancellation of "Wake Up With Al," then I'm all for it! ;)

I agree. How about a channel that shows Weather forecasts? Not movies at 8pm.

When I tune into the Weather Channel, I want weather not Storm Stories or How Weather Affected History.

And therein lies the problem--not enough people tuning in in the first place. An issue conveniently overlooked quite often.

Try one of your local stations on its x.2 channel. You won't even need cable. We have three of them in Phoenix.
