Comcast Exploring Spinoff of NBCU Cable Networks Into New Company

Umm Elon Musk being floated around as a candidate to get MSNBC is odd here. But MSNBC is not on sale though. Its Spinco getting its management and board in place for the split and getting SEC approval to do so.

Elon can’t afford MSNBC, he is already over leveraged when he bought Twitter.

That may be true, but with Morning Joe/Mika going to Mara Lago, Washington Post not endorsing Harris, and CNN taking a "both sides" approach to appease Trump voters while one side attacks the free press, it seems like we are inching towards a state run media.
Yes. It's called anticipatory obedience, and it's what happens when large corporations with diverse interests have potentially controversial holdings.

Elon can’t afford MSNBC, he is already over leveraged when he bought Twitter.

Elon Musk is the richest man in the world, with a net worth of more than $300 billion. He owes $13 billion to banks for the Twitter loan.

Since the election---in less than two weeks---his net worth has gone up by $70 billion.

He is nowhere near over-leveraged, and if he wanted to buy MSNBC, he could swing it. Hell, if he wanted to buy NBCUniversal, he could swing that.

So why does he owe 13 billion in loans. You think they will give him more money for a fledgling cable network that’s on the way out.

So conservatives want Elon to buy MSNBC and either fire everybody or force them to tow the party line.

Isn't that the exact same thing they say Soros wants to do with the Audacy stations? Hypocrites? Projection? Nothing new.

So why does he owe 13 billion in loans.

He decided to buy Twitter using other people's (in this case, a bank's) money. Rich people do that all the time. He's been making the payments.

At $300 billion plus net worth, he's a good credit risk.

To put it in perspective, that would be like you having $100,000 and financing a $4,300 big-screen TV at Best Buy.

You think they will give him more money for a fledgling cable network that’s on the way out.

First of all, "fledgling" describes something new and inexperienced. That's not MSNBC.

And Musk, assuming he isn't just trolling us, wouldn't buy it for the business prospects. As he did with Twitter, it would be intended to "own the libs" by buying a progressive/liberal news network and making it into something else. In Musk's view, the more opposite from what it is now, the better,

If this is confirmed that Elon Musk will get MSNBC that means that we have to look MSNBC in the same way John Catsimatidis runs 77 WABC New York.
Then again this is not confirmed due to the process of transition takes a year or more to complete.

Let’s just say he tries to buy MSNBC. What would the current sale price even be.
All of Comcast is valued at $177 billion, according to last year’s SEC filing, so half of Elon’s net worth.

Not sure how you’d value MSNBC separately but given the desire to spin cable assets off as a drag, it’s unlikely to be more than 10% of Comcast’s total value.

Let’s aim deliberately high and double that. That’s $35.4 billion, or about one-tenth of Musk’s net worth.

What is MSNBC's estimated net worth?

MSNBC's overall net worth is estimated to be around $2 billion. This figure considers various factors such as brand equity, audience reach, and diverse revenue streams. The network's strong viewer loyalty and adaptability in the changing media landscape contribute to this valuation. Source: Net Worth Spot.

How does MSNBC generate its revenue?

MSNBC generates revenue through multiple channels. The primary source is advertising, with annual revenues ranging from $800 million to $1 billion. Additionally, subscription fees from cable and streaming services, along with income from its popular YouTube channel, play significant roles. Partnerships and sponsorships also contribute to its financial success. Source: Net Worth Spot.

Earlier this year, Paramount was looking to sell BET:

So is BET worth more or less than MSNBC?

The next question is can you sell these networks off separately or do they go as a package deal.

That's a question you would ask the seller. And as we said, they're not selling them at all. They're spinning them off into a separate company.
