Winners of the Marconi for Sports Station Of The Year. They deserve it. It's a great station.

Don't waste your time spin, I posted this last week and no one replied........This board is mostly about criticizing stations, not congratulating them......ESPECIALLY THE TICKET

Well, I'll comment. I think its great that they one, as a P1. But I can't help but wonder:

Was getting the flagship station of the Dallas Cowboys what put them over the top? I suspect that added to the "legitamacy" of the sports station from a national viewpoint. But, I could be wrong...

what category, most co-opted sports station in DFW. Jerry Jones owns Mickey Spagnola, Bill Jones, Babe Laufenberg, Brad Sham, and most of Ticket staff (which used to be most critical of Jerry) is now a neutered puppy.

They scared Master Jones will take displeasure and call Cumulus, causing them all to be let go from their cushy little jobs licking Jones heinie. Sad to think they used to have some cajones, guess Jerry's only one with a sack left.

I rest my case......... ;)

Let's see, doesn't Mickey, Babe (who is a bag of nothing), and Brad actually work for Jerry? Maybe they should bad mouth the boss on the air?

Could it also be that the lack of Jerry bashing on the ticket is due to a 4-0 record?

I recall a recent interview with Jerry on The Ticket where he was pressed to the point of losing his temper.

If you listen to sports radio around the country WQAM, WIP, WFAN, you realize how good The Ticket is.

Thank you first time! They haven't said anything bad about them this year because nothing bad has happened this year. The Ticket laid into the Cowboys all year last year, especially Parcells.............People like TRF just hear what they want to hear.

Actually, you are far from correct on this one. Check out the many P1, P2 and P3 postings in here about KTCK. The musings in here are chock full of respect for what they have accomplished in radio, and transforming sports into a nationally renowned genre. Some of the pundits in here don't like some of the schtick they throw down on air, but NO ONE can ignore their success.

Incidentally, KLTY is a phenom in this market and recent Marconi winner. Although you don't hear people foaming at the mouth to what is happening there, there is mad respect for them as well. Just a point of view from the cheap seats... from one P1 to another.

What's funny is that Babe was on with Galloway all last year bagging on Jerry and the Cowboys - now that he's back on the payroll he seems to be singing a different tune. When will people in this market learn that hating on the cowboys is a good way to be unemployed (Bayless, et al).

I stand corrected VDV.

Dale Hansen might have something to say about that.

Tell me for those who like to talk bad about KTCK....Have you helped your station make 24 million dollars today? Did you help them make 24 million yesterday? If The Ticket does not entertain you or its just so unlistenable..then push the button. I love the station because I am entertained every time I listen.

I'll have to go along with salem on this one. I find that I'm spending more and more of my time in the car (and at home) listening to The Ticket. I especially like the mid-day lineup with Norm followed by Bob, Dan, and Donovan. Unfortunately my home near Mansfield makes it very difficult to listen to them after sundown. I'd love to be able to hear their postgame shows in the evening.

As great a respect I have for the Ticket.... is has gone down some, since Cumuless took over. As they try harder to appeal to everyone.... it just bcomes one more poc.

I think that's more Jeff Caitlin than Cumulus. Since he came back as PD they seem to be sticking to an ever more rigid formula.

That's as maybe, but I think it has more to do with appealing to a broader audience than before. If you remember when the cat-man was the hardline's producer, he was just as blue as anybody. But now that he is the head man and has to make sure the station doesn't offend anyone(god forbid we do that) then he has to make sure that content stays more on the path of cleanliness.

PD

GBS, you are solid on that one. I live out near Rendon and I get nothing outside of 157/287 when the sun goes down. It blows because that post game is going to be poppin' this evening.

Which goes to show you, sometimes... you really can dress 'em up and take them out of the house. ;D Kudos to the Cat man of the Americas!

Now if we can just get them to fix the delay for the Cowboy games. The signal is running a full 10 seconds behind the TV signal.

Funny they didn't have that problem at KVIL or KLUV. :D

I don't have the problem. The delay was the video if you are watching via cable or Direct TV. To get the radio signal to match the tv signal you have to plug good ole rabbit ears to the tv. Thats what I do now.
