Congrats To 1310 The Ticket

where do you live? I'm on the Grayson/Collin line and watching it off the air on an antenna. Last night was better watching it off the dish but it was still several seconds off the broadcast. I can see the 1700 tower from my house and can pick up 104.1 without a problem, 93.3 is a pipe dream due to 93.1 out of Oklahoma. It was bad last year but got better after pre season. This year not so much.

BTW: I have watched the broadcast and listened on the radio since the days of Gleiber/Lundquist and don't want to change. I just go in another room and listen now and go back to the TV to see the replays. This is driving me crazy.

I also pine for the days of Gleiber/Lunquist. Not to rag on Jeff Caitlin, again, but I heard him on The Ticket giving 92 reasons why the audio can't be sync'd with the video.

Maybe he or one of his underpaid with no benefit minions can go over it again here; maybe it'll make sense this time.

I've heard this discussion before-
the problem comes in that there's multiple possible TV 'sources'. Rabbit ears, cable, digital cable, direct TV, dish network, etc...Then add in TIVO's, and you add in another slight delay (my bedroom TV is probably 2-3 seconds ahead of my living room TV)...

The problem the Ticket has is which of those sources do you try to sync to? Especially when you consider that there are multiple cable outfits in town, all of which have different download and distribution systems, all of which adds variations to the 'chain'.

As mentioned before, the Ticket has said that they sync to over-the-air TV for a couple of reasons- it's the 'baseline' signal. It's the least delayed. And since the vast majority of the metroplex population can receive an over the air signal (if they want to hook up rabbit ears) it's the most common denominator. Especially when you consider what poor market penetration rates cable and DTV have in this market...We're one of the lowest penetrated markets for those...

I live in Desoto. I listen to the games on 93.3 because the TV will cause interference on the 1310 signal. I donn't want to hear the high pitch hum coming out of my surround sound speakers.
