After a year and a half of being on the air, 92.3 NOW has finally cracked a 3-share (3.1, #14).

Let the ratings discussion start... NOW!

Uh-oh, Z100 was almost in the #2 spot, but CBS-FM hangs on. 3.1 for NOW, eh? Hopefully the dance mixshows are helping their numbers. WPTY in this book? How powerful is that 101.5 translator?

I think you'll start to see better numbers as the PPM sample starts to turn over.

strong enough to be heard in Greenwich. I miss my 101.5 WPDH.... then again I beg for it to be relayed of WFAF 106.3 again...

CBS FM's hold, continuing book after book behind the Lite monster, is very impressive,as they never got rid of those 60's records that everyone predicted would be gone after the first month...I heard the Dave Clark 5 in prime time yesterday, 'The Ballad of John & Yoko" tonight(which was banned from airplay on 77WABC Music Radio when it was a national Top Ten hit),and you can never get too much Supremes....

Very nice 92.3 Now FM. Also anyone see the nice jump Hot 97 has over Power. And that didn't take away from 92.3 Now FM's ratings at all.

The sample turns over about 8% each month... so there is nothing new there.

But the median year of the songs has moved more into the 70's, but still the station has been downtrending in sales demos for a number of books.

Yes, kudos to 92.3 Now for this banner development.

Now, when does the RXP-bashing (2.4-2.2-2.0) begin?

Watching the NOW/HOT/POWER ratings battle over the six months will be interesting. I still expect to see HOT lose more share than POWER when its all said and done.

First...congratulations to 92.3 Now for beginning to rise up! I do think the dance aspect of the format with the mix shows as well as a few adds of dance that Z-100 does not cover is of help. They should further lean a bit more on dance (the "edgier" side) while keeping the rhythmic aspect of the format.

As far as the 'RXP bashing is concerned...the other board has a September PPM thread. :)

I put my two cents in there as well, regarding what format should be flipped onto 101.9 once RXP is done. I did say that 92.3 Now SHOULD be that station to do a dance/rhythmic format. But if they are still trying to concentrate their focus on remaining CHR and are concerned about Z-100, then perhaps 101.9 should do dance rhythmic.

Unlike Pulse....MORE rhythmic aspect, if that can sell the dance branded artists.
Unlike Party....NO hip-hop (when they were on 87.7 anyway)

And in this case, being that the station should be totally contemporary....NO CLASSIC FREESTYLE! A specialty show.....emmm, maybe, but NO CLASSIC FREESTYLE on rotation as if it was 1989.

More possibilities for who the next station to flip will be...

Its possible will be WRXP. Then maybe Power 105.1 flipping.

ESPN has been patiently waiting for 'RXP to throw in the towel. ESPN covets that 101.9 signal!

Power 105.1? Not sure if they'd flip. CC's purpose with Power is to fragment Hot 97's audience enough to keep sister station LITE-FM in 1st place.

If CC blows up one of its NY FMs, don't be surprised if it would be for Rush Radio! ;)

but everyone knows HOT 97S name in rap songs in movies things like that you never hear
someone say hey turn on POWER 105

rush radio 105.1 sounds good

Sounds as though that is where the problem is.

You really do live in a fantasy world! You can't point to single successful dance formatted station in the entire GD county, yet you keep insisting that a local station should flip to that format. I've got news for you: It ain't gonna happen!!! 'RXP will probably, if anything, flip to sports talk format targeted at the same young male demographic that the Rock format hasn't reached. And if Now started adding so-called "edgy" dance product to their playlist, I'd venture to guesss that it would negatively impact their ratings. You need to face the fact that your taste in music is an outlier, meaning that it doesn't have much of a mainstream appeal, Lady GaGa notwithstanding!

I'm not convinced anything special is really helping 92.3 NOW other than time.
