Congrats to 92.3 NOW...

I put my two cents in there as well, regarding what format should be flipped onto 101.9 once RXP is done. I did say that 92.3 Now SHOULD be that station to do a dance/rhythmic format. But if they are still trying to concentrate their focus on remaining CHR and are concerned about Z-100, then perhaps 101.9 should do dance rhythmic.
You really do live in a fantasy world! You can't point to single successful dance formatted station in the entire GD county, yet you keep insisting that a local station should flip to that format. I've got news for you: It ain't gonna happen!!! 'RXP will probably, if anything, flip to sports talk format targeted at the same young male demographic that the Rock format hasn't reached. And if Now started adding so-called "edgy" dance product to their playlist, I'd venture to guesss that it would negatively impact their ratings. You need to face the fact that your taste in music is an outlier, meaning that it doesn't have much of a mainstream appeal, Lady GaGa notwithstanding!

Yet you complain OVER AND OVER again trying to knock down many dance fans in here. Everyone that has followed your tirades in here against dance music know this. If anything, you've invalidated yourself because people are well aware of the fact that you "hate".

The biggest "fantasy" is trying to stop me from pushing dance music. Once again, you don't have to like it, but you're sure as hell never going to stop me.

Sounds as though that is where the problem is.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

Yeah, there is still too much 60's stuff for consistent 25-54 performance. But it's obvious that they do not wish to move too fast, and, as they have before, will continue to adjust the list.

The same can be stated for alternative rock since almost every rock alternative station is flipping.  If rock alternative is making a huge impact, 1) no talk of RXP flipping would ever happen, 2) K-Rock, WNEW, 98.5 The Bone would still be here, and someone would've re-launched LIR,  3) G-Rock would've been back on 106.3/106.5 instead of country, and 4) WJSE would've never flipped to Wild.  Yeah, stations like Radio 104.5 in Philly, FNX and Radio 92.9 in Boston, and KROQ in LA are doing decent in the ratings and that's a good thing, and you got the college stations covering the rock alternative aspect, but for the dance aspect, we got 94.5 The Vibe in Vegas, PartyFM in LI, and DanceFactory in Chicago (regards if it's on nights only, it's not on the non-comm section of the band) on the terrestrial dial, and not to forget about the college and non-commercial stations spinning dance music, and do not forget the dance friendly CHR stations out there, like 92.3 NOW, B98.5 in the Jersey Shore, and K104 in Poughkeepsie.  Speaking of LIR, how did you even deal with that station knowing that about 35% of it's playlist was DANCE MUSIC?!

More possibilities for who the next station to flip will be...

Its possible will be WRXP. Then maybe Power 105.1 flipping.

ESPN has been patiently waiting for 'RXP to throw in the towel. ESPN covets that 101.9 signal!

ESPN seems better for 105.1 as their at 1050 on AM. So 105.1 makes sense for FM. But CC wouldn't sell to ESPN would they

Not in the least. While CC's been getting out out of small markets over the past few years, there's no way that they would voluntarily give up a signal like 105.1. And especially not to a competitor like ESPN. As had been stated before, they use 105.1 as a means to assist their prize signal in WLTW. Why would they want to hurt WLTW by doing something like that? That's way too fanciful, to say the least.

As for 101.9, where was the article published that had Disney brass - even 'unnamed sources' - saying they wanted to buy that signal amid the articles written about Emmis' obvious troubles? Or has this been perpetual conjecture long ago given up and theorized as fact?

I can understand a group like ESPN wanting to get the competitive edge over WFAN. But I would like some proof here that they are actively wanting to buy that signal. Until then, it's just a silly non-stop guessing game.

If Power 105.1 wasn't here Hot 97 would be right behind WLTW in the ratings. Thats if you add both the current ratings for Hot and Power together. So you are right 105.1 helps 106.7

As for ESPN going to FM, rather see WFAN as their much more popular. ESPN is still good yes. But CBS Radio isn't going to buy another FM, not even sure if they can. And does Disney have the money to buy a FM this as they are blowing up ESPN in Pittsburgh.

About two years ago, Crain's NY Business openly speculated that WRXP (101.9 FM) would be sold or LMA'd to ESPN. Emmis vetoed that deal, though they later LMA'd 93.9 FM in LA to a Spanish operator. ESPN was thought to have a lock on 96.3 FM until the NY Times sold it to Univision.

Despite financial woes, Emmis remains committed to making rock work on 101.9 FM despite it being the lowest-rated full signal FM in the NY market since it flipped from smooth jazz in 2008. Whether ESPN wants to buy the 101.9 signal is up for debate, but they are definitely looking for a class B FM in the NY market. :)
