Connecticut Stations Drop Howie Carr - Sponsors Don't Want To Be Associated With Carr

Reported on Radio Insight that Connecticut radio stations WLIS/WMRD have dropped Howie Carr because the sponsors don't want to be associated with Carr.

Trouble is you need an " I Heart " to tune in which is severely limiting and does not encourage passive participation.

Huh!? If you live in the station's broadcast area all you need is a radio. If you don't, all you need is a smartphone, tablet, internet radio or computer. That doesn't sound like "limiting" to me.

Howie email list post promises more affiliates
in the coming weeks. In addition to WLIS and
WMRD,whose site greets you with a "we've got
personality!" jingle, Howie only had WBEC
Pittsfield for a short while..an operation that
couldn't be troubled to put up a website.
For awhile there was a page for it on the
fm side's sitw,but no longer...why bother eh.

This is not from a "report" on radio insights...just a posting on their bulletin board.

The report says:

>>According to a posting from an angry listener on their Facebook Page WLIS/WMRD made an announcement that they dropped the show because their advertisers didn’t want to be on his show<<

There is no indication that this is true...except from a FB post "from an angry listener on their Facebook Page"

In the meantime, Howie drops an affiliate in Middletown....for a better Hartford based signal.

Not bad, I'd say!

Not to worry. Howie Carr is now so closely attached to Donald Trump's ass he will never have to work again...

If Howie is so enamored of Trump it's because talking about him gets listeners and he makes a lot more money than you or I. Maybe some of the teeny stations he had did have trouble selling ads, but he's doing quite well on the whole, and maybe Mr Drucker's General Store or the Bug Tussle Notions Emporium just don't want to advertise on radio
anywhere.

Selling your soul is so easy in commercial radio. Just the latest example.

Meanwhile I believe Mark Hannon from
our area is now running WPOP and
he's quoted in Tom Taylor Now as saying
they will have more news and less "politically
divisive" talk shows (using NewsRadio slogan
not "talk").Admittedly they have Howie and
Levin but also Meghan McCain (on WKOX
here) who is not exactly hardcore conservative
but also the show may be more lighthearted.

Just here to admire how any time Howie is mentioned in a disparaging manner racoonradio is here within mere seconds to defend the Howard Lawrence Carr.
It's like a beacon is lit summoning racoon to his defense :D

Just here to admire how any time there appears anywhere a potentially disparaging item about Howard Lawrence Carr, it is Omnibus who has posted.
It's like a beacon is lit spurring Omnibus on the offense.

The only reason he posts his stuff is because someone always responds. I'm breaking my rule here about responding but I just want to see him go away. He will if no one will reply to his attempts to get attention. I will not post again on this thread.

You make me sound like Donald Trump. Ugh ! ;-) Don't shoot the messenger!

Howie adding WNNH 99.1 Henniker/Concord NH next Mon. Huge signal w local news, Imus, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Praeger, Carr, Michael Savage.

Still no word on any stations adding "the Kuhner man"

The Crazy One will tell you his "new show" which is exactly the same show he has been doing for years is still in the incubation period. I stumbled across a bio Kuhner wrote about himself in 2008. He writes that he plans to take his then WTNT radio show national with stations across the country. I still say Entercom has no interest in him beyond filling the 12 to 3 slot, otherwise he would be on other Entercom stations. Kind of odd RKO has new digital billboards up promoting Dave Ramsey but you never see any Kuhner promotion.

Yesterday, CK went off the rails and spent 15 minutes ripping apart Boston.com calling them yellow journalists and hacks and several other names including amatuers due to their coverage of Curt Schillings ESPN. suspension. Taking issiue with their coverage is one thing but the name calling considering they produce the morning show on "The Great WRKO" is odd.

Later Carzy Kuhner called the dessert at the Hanover Street Chop House that is named after Howie Carr ( Raccoon have you tried it? Is it good?) that Carr invites listeners to try in the spots "the worst dessert on the entire menue."

Ha! I've been to Manchester NH but not to that
place, yet. Not holding my breath about Kuhner
affiliates. Some of his fans figure he might
pick up,say,a WTIC if WPOP gets Rush, but
prob no interest. As for WNNH maybe Bill
Binnie is hoping for ad dollars in advance
of NH primary. So they got Howie but
I can't picture them signing up for Jeff.
