Could a televised concert trump Trump's big day?

Uh, no. The fact that you see Carter in the news from time to time does not indicate he instigated the coverage. I assume the friendly media covers him because their readers/listeners/viewers are interested in him. And actually, the same holds true for Bush. No coverage because ....well, you know.

Really, dude? Have you EVER seen Carter SHUN media coverage? No, he eats it up like a kid with a candy bar. He could always send the cameras on their way but he won't because he loves the coverage. And the media cover him because THEY (not the viewers) are interested in him.

Bush, meanwhile, retired to his ranch in Texas, and does NOT invite the coverage. He has had plenty of opportunities to be critical of Obama (remember that stupid "beer summit"?) but unlike Carter, who constantly sniped about Reagan after losing the election to him, Bush has remained relatively quiet.

Seriously dude, stop arguing with me. I am not impressed with your efforts to drive up your post count.

Once again I ask for your sources. Until then I will assume you are as close to the subject as I am - which means nowhere near.

I wouldn't either if I had his legacy.

My post count means absolutely nothing to me. The Moderator could reset it to zero today and it would not matter one whit. You made a statement that sounds like it came out of left field and I asked for a source. You still haven't provided one so I will consider your statement as having no substance.

Not wanting to get the Mod mad at me I will now discontinue this conversation. Have a nice day.

Well you did say that you "assumed" that viewers would be interested in Carter. You provided nothing to back that up, so I owe you nothing, and you will get every bit of what I owe you. You have made a case for maybe having a PBS special on Carter, but that is about it. I have seen part of one, and believe you me, they are warts and all.

Compare that to a single-termer whose one term ended 35 years ago. The one word that is still most associated with him is "malaise." I should know. I lived it. And I haven't seen anything like it since, no matter what the lamestream media would have you to believe.

Okay, well part of that I have already addressed above. As for the rest, I have a night hike this new year's eve, so I won't be camped out in front of the television anyway. You have a good one, too.

So now all of a sudden a bunch of country stars have confirmed to perform for Trump's inauguration: Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, Trace Adkins, and Big & Rich. The last two were winners of Trump's Celebrity Apprentice. Neither actively supported him during the election.

And supposedly Flo Rida, the rapper, has agreed to perform for a payment of $1 million. As Ted "Million Dollar Man" DiBiase used to say on WWF wrestling in the '80s, "Everybody has his price."

According to an old joke "We have established what you are. We are now just negotiating the price." :)

Given that Lord Cheeto most probably didn't have a plethora of Black supporters I wonder what the backlash might be should the performance actually take place.

why don't they move have the inauguration in Branson?

is it still Las Vegas run by Ned Flanders? they still have Ray Stevens, surprised he isn't performing for Trump

Yakov Smirnoff had a dinner theater in Branson for a while, he would be an excellent choice to perform at the inauguration.

Have you been there lately? It's not the music mecca it once was.

Many of the performers who put it on the map have either died or fully retired from the music business. They were mainly stars of the '60s and '70s. The stars of the '80s and '90s had little desire to set up shop in Branson once the hits stopped coming. A lot of them are still touring, playing smaller venues and fairs.

Correct. What's there now is mainly Christian and gospel music. There's a lot more money to be made touring today. If you want to camp out somewhere, the casinos in Las Vegas will pay more than Branson.
