Would they fit in the lifegroup? This is Mainstream AC.
Yes, they would!
Consider the following:
1. Jeff and Jer have an aging audience. It is not exactly a Channel 933 crowd, and I'm not sure they're even a Star or Sophie crowd. Much of the music and listeners who used to tune to Hot AC have moved on to stations like Kyxy now.
I realy do not see them working at a Classic Rock station, and would they really fit on a station like Sophie anymore?
2. Kyxy is Mainstream AC, yes. But, Kyxy today does not sound much different than B100 did at the time that Jeff and Jer worked there. Again, a lot of that same music has made its way to Kyxy now.
3. Kyxy already has other personalities that are also from the B100 Jeff and Jer era, such as Gene Knight. So they would fit right in.
4. It would also be a good way for Kyxy to "freshen up" the format a bit and go to the next level. I want to stress, Kyxy already has great talent on in the morning and througout the day, so I'm not advocating that the current talent needs to go. But still, it's a business and these things happen. Someone once said to me that "Today's AC is yesterday's Top 40." Well, Jeff and Jer are yesterday's Top 40 morning team.
5. Money. Imagine what Kyxy's management could make with Jeff and Jer as the morning show on Kyxy? I'm guessing Kyxy's format is not one that requires a lot of investment as it is. This is a morning show that is desparate to get back on the air. CBS (or successors) probably would not need to make that big of an investment to get them, and they have the name recognition. The audience will come for Jeff and Jer, they'll stay for the music. It would be a win-win.
Well, those are my thoughts on it, anyway.
