Could Mojo Be Jacked?

Rhythmic oldies is more dying than true oldies...Susquehanna's rhythmic oldies Mojo should be Jacked next instead of 'GRR bein' Jacked. Susquehanna has had Jacks before. Believe me, if GRR were Jacked, could Mojo shift to true oldies?

Not in Cincinnati it isn't. It's still (according to the 12+ trends) a top 5 station in the area. Why change something that's successful?

Remember in Indianapolis, when oldies WGLD in Indianapolis was a top 5 station? It flipped from oldies to Jack recently, and was still a top 5 station.

Okay, good point. Guess I forgot the one thing about radio these days - it's not about the listeners, it's about the money.

Remember, MOJO and the rest of the Big Indian stations are up for sale. Would not be surprised to see the new owner 'Jack' MOJO, but Big Indian won't do a thing. They'll let the new owners do it. It is a prime candidate for that move.

MOJO still skews a bit younger than traditional oldies, and that's the difference. I don't see that move from them. Cincy may not be a strong candidate for Jack, with Mix 94.1 already trying to take the Variety hits position, and Q102.

Mojo is tops in women and I think top 3 in adults. WGRR isn't in the top 5 in either. You be the judge.

If Mix 94.1 is variety hits, then I'm the King of France.

They have a playlist of, what, 6 songs?

I'm quite sure they play more than six songs.

Mojo Be Jacked?

doubt it. Mojo is really the only successful Jammin Oldies station in the country, the make money and are highly rated. Format change would be pretty
unwise for them.

That's totally absurd... If JACK came into the market, MOJO would get STRONGER! It's simple, Mojo is a fixture in Cincinnati, that radio station defied the nay-sayers and is so well executed. The station was recently #1 in W 25-54 and adults 25-54. MOJO continues to be in the top 5. JACK formats right now have big Male 25-54 numbers. Women are MOJO's target.

The station has made such in-roads to the target, if that station were to make any modifications, listeners would go crazy, take to the streets. There would be picketing at the studios, and it wouldn't be a pretty site.

What I can't fathom is that anyone would break something that's working soo well. If I had the cash, I'd buy the cluster and hold the biggest street festival with their core artists on stage.

Today's broadcasters are looking for the "flavor of the moment". Many who abandoned the Jammin' oldies format did it because they lived in the past, instead of being timely topical. Many JO's tried to lean Urban, which was the biggest mistake. Pro's should look at JO as a "Hot AC", not an oldies or urban format.

The same thing will happen to JACK, BOB, PETE or whatever the name of the day is. Listeners will get tired of the format and so many programmers will do that format wrong. I give JACK 2 to 3 years.

The ONLY benefit from it is that stations will make the playlists bigger and do a better job of researching the music.
