Could "The Harbor" Be A Stunt??

$1.45 million per annum.

In Boston, you should be able to bill that with two tin cans and some string.

If it's a stunt, it's because they haven't fully researched what they're going to do and are biding their time, but need a buffer to make sure the new format does not directly replace a format that had an unprofitable but loyal audience. cf. WACQ, WTTK, WKKT and perhaps WMRQ.

This is silly. If it were a stunt, why bother with commercial-free Iroc music in the meanwhile? They could just rebroadcast WRXP out of NYC, keep the alternative audience, and not go commercial-free...until the real format is ready. They are already selling a young audience of hip hoppers and CHR fans; it should be an easy sell to their current advertisers to add young alternative fans.

CC doesn't own WRXP. If they were going to simulcast a rock station in NY, it would be their Q104.3, which doesn't play what you like.

If this is indeed a stunt, then CC, although a big fat pig corporate network, could actually look half good if the went alternative in time for the college students coming back.

Why would CC want a format that pulls a 0.8 on FM? And why would they want a format that appeals to an audience that DOESN'T listen to terrestrial commercial radio and has already gone to Pandora and and the Internet never to return?

And what numbers will they pull on the current format?

Yes, you're right; I meant to say Radio 104.5 in Philly (WRFF).

I was talking to one (unnamed) station owner that thinks the Harbor is in fact a stunt....Espanol after labor day???

If that's really true, then why would they bother with "The Harbor" in the first place? Why wouldn't they have just gone directly to Spanish from WFNX? What would be the rationale for a month+ "stunt" with an "adult hits" format?

Not sure about Boston, but Smear Channel's WRFF (Radio 104.5), an alt-radio format, draws a 5.2 in the Philadelphia market. Take that for what it's worth.
