Could Tucker Carlson End Up On Talk Radio?

Now, if Premiere wanted to do something, I could see them looking at if there was any interest in a daily feature from Tucker - perhaps a minute long with a 30 spot attached.

That really doesn't fit what Premiere does. They do long form. The daily :60 feature is something that news networks did in the 20th century. I don't see any such programming at Premiere's web site. Seems to me O'Reilly tried this before settling on his current format.

Premiere still offers features - for news/talkers, there's Nancy Grace (Crime Alert with Nancy Grace | Premiere Networks) and Sean Hannity affiliates still carry a Morning Minute feature too.

In other formats, Ryan Seacrest has two Direct from Hollywood features daily, and I believe Bobby Bones affiliates have features they clear outside his daypart as well.

So they do exist, and the idea of seeing if Tucker was interested in something isn't that far-fetched, especially if iHeart makes the decision for their news/talkers on whether they'll carry it.

But these are all Premiere long form hosts. You're proposing Tucker just do a :60 feature with no other related program.

Nancy Grace doesn't host a long form show for Premiere currently and she still has a feature, so again, it's not that far-fetched.

She does a podcast and that feature comes from the podcast.

Having said that, I already said in this thread that I can see Tucker doing a podcast. See post #8.

How many years is that 60 Minutes lady currently serving since an interview with Putin or trying to secure one now equates to an act of treason and conspiracy with the Russian government?
Is mentioning any facts about Ukraine that don't comply with the narrative that it's the only nation on the planet that is corruption free and that the children of American politicians getting some of our money back from Ukrainian power companies also treason?
And how does this work with trashing Elon Musk for securing communications in Ukraine pretty much completely on his own dime?

Tucker doesn't fit talk radio and talk radio wouldn't maximize his reach or income potential. Plus a lot of his audience would get left behind. His two options are either: another cable network or internet videos of some kind (or some combination of both.)

There is always thr speaking circuit. Speakers at conferences and meetings can get a large fee for a one time gig. I have to assume a book is coming soon too..

Bill O'Reilly tried to do talk radio, and he said it was too much work. Tucker's TV show is one hour. Talk radio is usually four hours. TV talk has lots of staff. Talk radio is mostly the host talking for four hours.

If the LA Times story is right, and he was fired because of harassment, nobody will hire him. Nobody wants that kind of presence in their workplace. It's just not worth it.

If Tucker does anything, it will be a podcast. It's less work.
BigA - Does Bill O'Reilly even have a decent audience? I heard his take on what happened to Tucker Carlson on Sean Hannity's radio show yesterday afternoon. I listened because it was somewhat compelling. I just can't take listening to Bill. His voice has sounded like he is 90-years-old compared to six years ago. I admit that I am not shocked by all the people making comments about Tucker being gone. Its just as divided on comments as we've been properly taught to engage politics in America 2023. Like Don Lemon, which actually IS a more interesting conversation. CNN firing back on Don's comments is actually pretty refreshing.

Depends on what you mean by "decent audience." They're very decent. They go to church and don't do crack. :) But that's not what you meant. They're the talk radio audience, which means they're old and male. It might add up to about the same number he had at Fox, thanks mainly to WABC. The radio show is promotion for the website. That's what the game is about. Everything is done online.

Good retort. :) I just don't engage in O'Reilly and I wonder if I am the odd old man out on that, but why would a ton of folks want to hear anything he has to say? I can appreciate Hannity being relevant. I am not sure Carlson would have 1/3 of Hannity's listenership on the air/online if he replicated Hannity's current blueprint. Am I wrong?

They drank the kool aid. Plus they're retired with nothing else to do.

I agree. O'Reilly is a creative writer. Tucker sounds like nails on the chalkboard. His success came from his producers.
