Could Tucker Carlson End Up On Talk Radio?

I heard an interesting analysis of the opposition of many in the U.S. to the vaccine on a news commentary show I listen to from Mexico.

The panel on the show believed that "authorities" in the U.S. had painted the vaccine with the same brush as, for example, the polio vaccine: a total cure. In fact, they stated, the vaccine is not a cure, but it reduces dramatically the chances of death and long illness.

But, the panel concluded, many in the U.S. (remember, in Latin America residents of the United States are not "Americans" but "Northamericans" or "Unintedstatsians") saw that the vaccine did not prevent COVID and thus was born the belief that it was ineffective and even a conspiracy.

An interesting sidebar was the comment that, for many decades, international travelers had to carry the yellow vaccine booklet along with their passport or they could not enter most countries. The conclusion was that "in that era" requirements for vaccination were widely respected as most people in the world remembered the effects of yellow fever and other deadly plagues.

To put it simply, when things are going well humans will somehow find a way to make it worse, especially the spoiled brats who have tantrums and scream "You can't make me". Really sad.

Newsmax won’t exist after the next lawsuit blows them out of the water.
Those companies are either owned or funded by Democratic establishment so no surprise they win these fake lawsuits. Bought and paid for. Always the way of political establishment. I will always find non establishment owned or funded media to read or watch.

But if Republicans only had absolute one-party rule with no opposition, and Our Lord God Trump was President for life, all would be Utopia.

Your orange God lost

One party rule? Ughhhh. How about NO party rule and an independent person. My first choice Bernie Sanders also "lost", actually blocked out twice as a threat to the high and mighty.

Oh that's funny. Newsmax, Epoch Times, Blaze media, Al Jazeera, Sky News, Christian Science Monitor, Newsnation. I have my own house by the way. I can independently support myself.

I think that the CDC (naively) believed at the time that everyone was going to rush out and get the vaccine as soon as it was made available and when that didn’t happen, they didn’t know how to get people interested.

The biggest problem is/has been that this is all “honor system” - eg doctors offices asking “Have you been around anyone with covid?” and stores saying, “Anyone who’s vaccinated can shop without a mask” without any verification, and thinking, “people will do the right thing for themselves & others sake and tell the doctors office the truth/wear a mask at the store if they aren’t vaccinated or are feeling sick/get vaccinated”, and the last 4 years has unfortunately shown us that that isn’t always the case.

I thought the third stimulus payment after Biden got in should’ve been tiered and semi-tied to proof of Covid vaccinations & being up to date on them - we have child tax credit incentives that work the same way. You don’t have to have kids but if you do, the government credits you a certain amount on taxes and the more kids you have the more tax credits you get, up to a limit. For example, if you’d gotten your first covid vaccination, you’d get $500. Second dose, $1,000. If you weren’t vaccinated you’d still get a stimulus check, it would just be less.

Unfortunately a lot of state governments banned verification systems. They even made it illegal to even ask if you'd been vaccinated for fear it would create two classes of people. I'm not kidding. So everything was on the honor system.

And you had governors like DeSantis who, at one point, declared that any business or person who had been fined, cited or had a legal case against them because they violated covid-related laws or restrictions, received blanket forgiveness. He also had the republican political trifecta in FL pass laws that took away the ability of counties and cities to declare their own states of emergency or enact their own policies in cases like the worldwide pandemic, and to try and protect people and businesses and ensure their safety. Law enforcement at the time were livid, for good reason. They had no backing from the governor, and even if they arrested people or wrote tickets to blatant violators, those were meaningless and the policies no longer had "teeth". It became a free for all. FL also redacted a lot of details that they and most every other state had been reporting about the number of infections and deaths.

More Drama for Tucker Carlson and Fox News even though Fox News removed him a month ago initially over the Dominion, Smartmatic and staff members.

You realize Bernie is older than Biden? I'd also suggest his religion might be a factor for a third of the people in this country.
Not to mention being an open Democratic Socialist. The hammer-and-sickle Republican commercials were probably already produced.

Where I live in Tennessee, the county (MAGA) government over-rode the city government and disbanded the health department. There were meetings that went into the night. One restaurant and bar owner who was doing the right things (keeping his people paid, building outdoor and rooftop dining), simply asked "what are you going to do to keep employees safe?" The loud answer was "F-U". "My right to be served by your employees trumps their right to be safe. I have an absolute right to do whatever I want, whenever I want and if you don't want to get Covid, it's up to you to drop out of society. I have a Constitutional right to be served, and to screen infected droplets in your face if you get my order wrong". That attitude went for churches too.

Just like a petulant 4 year old, the MAGA folks said "I am not going to get vacinated and you can't make me. Nah Nah Nah." Those of us who are old enogh remember that just about everyone wanted the polio vacine. Makes you wonder how people today would have handled the restrictions of WW2 when the whole country pulled together to win the war.
There are plenty of stories about times and ways the country as a whole had to pull together in the past to do things, or to get certain vaccines or to do something not just for them, but for the good of their fellow man, and at least some of those would never happen today. Personally, many of the things we were asked to do in order to help at least slow not only a nationwide but a worldwide pandemic just seemed to be just common sense and were rooted in medical science. Unfortunately many Einsteins out there who barely passed high school thought they knew better than epidemiologists who've been deeply educated and deal with this stuff for a living. They were bolstered and cheered on by the leader of the free world, who was being guided by his "gut feeling".
