Country it is

CONGRATULATIONS COUNTRY MUSIC FANS :)

Let me be the first to congratulate you all on the launch of Nash-FM on 94.7

I know country fans have been waiting a VERY LONG time for such a format to appear on New York City radio. Support it, follow it, make noise about it so that your station can last for a long time! 11 years has been a long void.

Congratulations from me and the dance music community :)

Re: CONGRATULATIONS COUNTRY MUSIC FANS :)

I think it takes a lot of brass to do a format that "everybody" says won't work "because it's New York." Not a fan of Cumulus by any means, but give credit where it's due. Superb set-up and payoff pitch production. Country. Game on!

Re: CONGRATULATIONS COUNTRY MUSIC FANS :)

You have to give credit to anyone who does what other say is impossible. Good job Cumulus. I can totally remember growing up in Somerset County NJ listening to WYNY in all it's incarnations....this is a good move for everyone. Trendy looking website too. Is Scott Shannon programming this station?

Smartly set-up with good production and first song. Posters who predicted that Alan Jackson's "Gone Country" would be first out of the chute were only one song off, it was the second song played. I think this format is going to be a success if it's worked and promoted to the fullest extent and prove a lot of New York Board posters were right when they said it could work in Market #1.

Its been a long 16 years, 11 months, two weeks, two days, three hours, and 51 minutes for Country Music fans - Now more questions begin...All Live airstaff??? At least eventually??? Who would it be??? How much if any syndicates shows??? Any Satellite shows??? How will the station be staffed???? My hope is mostly live and local. Personally the most I really want to see non live is Overnights....Let's hope they run this station like a major market station and not a stepchild.

Oh congratulations to "The Dentist" - He was right - I did have a rock feeling but at the same time I figured that Country also had a strong shot. I was betting 40 some percent on either format. Oh Calls still seem to be WRXP... WHY??? Actually I hate Country but at the same time I am happy for Country Music fans. They deserve their own station in New York City. I had been wanting to see a country station since about 1997 for their sake. Wish it were not this station. I frankly think someone should have done this format long before now. Anyhow I am happy for Country Music fans. This is your day!!!!

Absolutely.I think this station will do very well, very well.

Proving that there is still some good radio left in a company, Cumulus did a great job stunting and flipping to NASH FM. You gotta give them that. Onward and upward for the new 94.7 NASH FM and the launch of their national brand. They celebrating in Nashville right now.

Re: CONGRATULATIONS COUNTRY MUSIC FANS :)

Country certainly is the most obvious format hole in New York. I think it will do well. Good move Cumulus.

Re: CONGRATULATIONS COUNTRY MUSIC FANS :)

I HATE COUNTRY!!! PERSONALLY!!! BUT LOVE THE FACT PEOPLE NOW HAVE A STATION TO CALL THEIR OWN!!!! I am very excited for you Country music fans. I really believe this station will lift the morale of many people in the New York Metro area. I believe at least 2 and a half million people in the New York Metro area will be listening and enjoying the music. This is a time to celebrate. Again ALL THE COUNTRY MUSIC FANS!!! ENJOY!!!!

Now my next wish is a oldies station playing pre 64 oldies....Hey you cannot have everything....

time will tell on that one. We'll see if it's a success or not. Not the first time it has been tried.

How long until this station has a link at IHeart?

I entered a direct link into the TuneIn app, as I did with several Cumulus stations, since Cumulus stations don't seem to work well on my IHeart phone app. Otherwise, I use IHeart for Clear Channel streams, because I think that otherwise, it's a really good streaming app.

Glad it was country, and I think it was a smart move. My only concern is I think there's a big too much gold being played. I think if country is going to work in NYC, it really need to be current based, upbeat, and almost CHR in presentation. Overall, I'd say a pretty good job, but I wouldn't have played older gold like Brooks and Dunn Boot Scooting Boogie and Garth Brooks Friends in Low Places. I think I'd focus on really high spins for today's current, edgier, more pop based younger country artists.

Playing a ton of gold product at the outset makes plenty of sense; eventually they'll decide how far back to go with the gold tracks in their library.

I'm sure this flip will get plenty of attention & comments in tomorrow evening's edition of Country Aircheck (http://www.countryaircheck.com).

A fantastic event for country music and country radio, coming on the heels of a very good year for music sales (up 4.1% from 2011) and listenership.

Don't Follow country that much. Is the After Midnight syndicated show still around? I know it was on WYNY when it was country/
