Country on WXBK HD-2

I would be very curious to know who, if any, are tuning into to hear country on the former country station in NYC on its HD-2 signal now. Though I think that country in NYC was always a long shot (because I feel like NYC is the least country market in the country) I think it's good to have it on some outlet in the city.

If it's only on HD-2, then few people are listening to it. The technology has been a dud from a consumer-adoption standpoint. Country fans in the NYC area are probably either listening to streaming or satellite sources or have forgotten about country music and turned to other genres that are readily available on New York City FM.

I listen to it. The music is kept up to date, and at least it has one hosted show on weekdays. The fact that that this HD2 has had a steady sponsor will hopefully help it remain on the air for years to come.
The RDS title should reflect that this is a Country station. Instead it uses the slogan of the primary (HD1) station. This makes it more difficult for potential Country listeners to discover it.

The music it plays ought to be a pretty good clue! I'm assuming that the only way potential listeners would see the slogan is to listen to the station, right?

I was listening to it the other day, the only thing that my car radio had that you could say is the slogan of the station was the callsign, WXBK. Everything else identified it as NY Country 94.7.

That's interesting. The display on my receiver, when tuned to 94.7 HD2 says, "#1 for Throwbacks." I believe that's the slogan for the HD1.

Their signal is weak enough on analog, that the HD is really bad on Long Island. I’m waiting till they can do something with their analog signal, so the HD would also benefit.

They had a CP for 94.7 to move closer to NYC, but that CP expired and was not renewed or extended so that train has left the station.

Wrong.
Audacy received an extension from the F.C.C. to 9/15/22.
They submitted extensive details to the F.C.C. explaining the delay in moving WXBK to its new location, along with associated costs.

I attempted to post a direct link to the related F.C.C. filings in the previous post, but couldn't get it to work.

My brother had been a WNSH 94.7 listener and was disappointed when the station left. He's a big fan of country music. He was surprised when I told him that Country is now on HD-2. He didn't even realize he has an HD Radio in his vehicle. I guess if he ever tuned to HD-2, he didn't wait long enough for the buffering to finish so he'd hear the music.

Now he has it on in his vehicle all the time. He tells me he sort of misses the other DJs but he's OK with the afternoon DJ. She doesn't talk too much. And there are only a few commercials.

My daughter plans to move to Bala Cynwyd after she gets married and will listen to 'XTU.She always questioned why we do not have a country station if there are many upstate.

New York's Country 94.7 HD2 had a .3 overall rating in May, in the New York ratings. That's the highest I've seen in this area for an HD subchannel.

If people are going to listen to a HD2, they really want it on HD1. In a few Eastern Pennsylvania markets, latino HDs are showing up in the ratings.

Perhaps it would make sense for Audacy to seek a translator or two on Long Island for New York's Country 94.7 (HD2).
