Couple of "Romper Room" Questions

A couple of my ponderings about Romper Room's famous "Magic Mirror" bits:

-- In general, were the names memorized by the host, read off cue cards, or just plain ad-libbed? (I know the shows often got specific name requests from viewers.)

-- Am I correct in assuming that the "Magic Mirror" bit was situated at the end of the show for a very practical reason -- that the list of names could be shortened or lengthened depending on whether the show was running long or short on time? There are a couple of contrasting RR clips on YouTube that would seem to bolster this notion. In one, the host quickly rattles off maybe 5 or 6 names, says a short goodbye, cue credits and music. But in another, a different host drones on in no particular hurry through a ridiculously long list, like 40 or 50 names!

Don't know the answer to that question.

I do know that during my mid-teens, one of my friends had an older brother who had dated one of the
actresses who played the teacher on a local version of Romper Room. (I don't want to identify the
teacher or the city, will just call her Miss Jenny).

One of the biggest topics of endless locker room debate amongst all of us pubescent guys at
the time was whether or not Miss Jenny..... (ahem) ......was a "sport" on a first date.

Crude, but typical for that age. We never got an answer to that question either. ::)

The magic mirror was subject to deep fades, and any time the list was "short", she just couldn't see any more viewers out there. ;)
Only one time did she ever "see" me. (1964)

I, um, see.....so when the list was long, conditions were better, and she was "DXing" more kids? ;D

you gotta remember...this was long before the magic mirrors went digital....

I say, it was too bad if your name was Aloysius or Thelonious or something....
