Drucifer if you're saying go back to the days of the boss jocks, of wall to wall music and live tracked commercials instead of "IT'S ALL ON SALE!!!" "BUY NOW NO INTEREST!!!!" CRAP that seems to be taken as the standard...well, until one Top 50 market can crack the mold it's not going to happen. The business of radio has taken the art of radio away.
Now I'd like to be able to pick up a license somewhere, set up a rig in a trailer by a lonesome tower, sell ads from my living room, and as long as I'm paying the bills and keeping my license up to date I'm a successful owner operator. No talent, just some happening jingles and a canned weather forecast (if I care to do it) and a target audience and WHAMMO!!! Money in my pocket. Go against the grain??? WHY???? Because I've got an urge to be a radio guy.
Back to Earth here. In reality I'd love to take an existing station and do like you suggested and make people take notice. Why can't they look past the spreadsheet and open the door to new styles...oh yeah I forgot: MONEY. More for me and less for you, my enslaved employees...
