Holland, what have been the ratings in these other markets of the station prior to the simulcast? If they were commensurate to Pro-AM prior to the addition of 99.7, that's a good indication that a strong station will translate to numbers. On the other hand, HJJ's numbers at this time appear to not have moved at all in the last 4 years (other than down from the Holiday Massacre a couple of years back) below a 2, so yeah, it could improve ratings a bit; but to what point? CC has to decide if going from a 1.8 to maybe a 2.3 or 2.5 while losing the Coast or B audience worth it...personally I don't think so. Cume right now between PRO-AM and HJJ is 220k vs 71k. TSL on any talk station (be it AM or FM) is going to be higher than most music stations anyway because of the nature of the beast and the stripes they wear; but the big question out of all of it is are there sponsors that want to buy that vs the music station they are buying now....and my last piece of food for thought, they are already getting beat by 3 talk stations when you consider Pro-AM, EEI-FM and BZ-FM are all ahead of them and the FM talk out of Boston, TKK, is nipping at their heels. I think the lineup there as it is currently constituted, is not going to move that needle....Holland Cooke said:Skynet74 said:Simulcasting an AM signal on FM doesn't necessarily mean more ratings.
All most all experience to-date everywhere suggests otherwise.
Some 80% of TSL is on FM...not an opinion...honest.

I'd say it's different than where I lived in Florida. The syndicated stuff worked there because listeners weren't from there. R.I.ers that are here are STILL here. They'll live & die here.Holland Cooke said:wknd92 said:Holland, what have been the ratings in these other markets of the station prior to the simulcast?

The reason I can't stop-what-I'm-doing to put-together a spreadsheet for y'all is that -- and I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP -- I'm hip-deep in launching two FM Talkers...soon.

"It's different here," right?
No Holland, I think the overall point I've been trying to make to you is being missed....It's not that it is different here, it's that it isn't working here NOW and hasn't been since they took AAR off the air (and AAR wasn't working either and I guess that the prior lineup with Arlene and bart wasn't working before that to CC's liking) so why would a simulcast to a FM station benefit if people aren't listening now (and haven't been for over 4 years?) You then also have to ask about the money they have in contracts for Seacrest and AT40 that they purchased and where and what would they do with them....Holland Cooke said:wknd92 said:Holland, what have been the ratings in these other markets of the station prior to the simulcast?

I think he's saying WHJJ is tried & failed here.Holland Cooke said:FM Talk was tried-and-failed here?
Thank you! Seeing as CC is pinching pennies as it is and the product isn't working and i don't believe they would bring local talk back full force (as that is why they went to the bird in the first place), I don't see where Talk-FM fits into their cluster. If they did want to infuse money into the station and bring back local hosts, I might feel differently; but they are running bare bones with personnel live on air on Oxford Street and have done nothing over the last 4 years but cut, cut, cut...N1WVQ said:I think he's saying WHJJ is tried & failed here.Holland Cooke said:FM Talk was tried-and-failed here?
