It's not too hard to put the pieces together. People may not like that something is paywalled, but Lance works hard for his information and he has a business he's running that relies on subscribers as well as advertisers. The TOS are posted on his site. He's sometimes given information in advance, as most reporters are, and is asked to embargo the information until a certain time. Subscribers pay a privilege in order to get the info early, but in return, we don't then spread it everywhere. Same with RadioTVDeals. Lot's of people can go there and see general information on stations, but exclusive listings require a subscription. Just like Radio Insight, we don't then go on this board and start blabbing about this group or that station going up for sale.
I talk to people everyday. I happen to know of dozens of stations for sale right now that aren't listed anywhere. But I don't spread that information publicly because it isn't MY information to share. It's the same when someone tells me about a personnel move that's coming. It's THEIR information, not mine. I've built up trust in people by not sharing confidential information that they have given me, and I expect that same commitment if I share information with them.
It's one thing to comment on a thread on this board based on publicly available free information. It's something entirely different to take paid information and share that freely as if you heard it from the source yourself. Until the member who posted the comments comes on here to defend themselves, we have to assume the information came from Radio Insight. Perhaps they'll break their silence and let us know how and where they got the information from.
