Cumulus starts cutting

I just heard that heads are being lopped at 106.7 :'(

Starting Randy and Spiff, to really talented guys. I hope someone picks them up.

Wasn't able to tune in today, but Randy and Spiff got canned? Really? That blows!
First B985 takes away all 80s weekend, and now this. If I only had money for satellite radio... back to the CDs and mixing my own stuff. :(

It's a shame that Randy and Spiff will be let go after the umpteenth time after many years. It looks like wherever they go, something bad happens to them. First it was on Fox 97. Then it was Cool 105.7. Then 94.9. Now, it is 106.7 Greatest Hits. They were at least the only reason why I still listen to Atlanta radio.

This was sudden. IIRC This weekend 106.7 was running the liner R & S in the morning and Atlanta's greatest hits. If this is true and looking at the ratings, I wonder what kind of pictures of a Cumulus Big shot (doing what ever) do The regular Guys have? The bad luck with stations for R & S score card: 2 stations sold while they were working there(97.1 and 106.7) and the Black building of on air career death, CC Atlanta.

I hate to see folks get canned for sure. I heard the TOC could come back.
I still think Journey could go to 106.7 and TOC to 97.9. Journey and AGH have not insignificant overlap.

Do you think Cumulus will bring Journey to Los Angeles? They now own KLOS, Classic Rock, their ratings have been tanking in LA even though it is a heritage brand. Rated a 2.5 in new ppm's beaten by JACK and KROQ. It's sister station KABC is in even more trouble.. barely rates with a 1.1.

Most of you know you can keep up with R&S HERE, but just in case you don't...

(Seems like they are changing their names to "Fine" and "Dandy"...)

Tripp West moves to mornings, 6-10am and Kristen Charles will continue to do middays. Wonder what they will do for afternoons. Doesn't look like they're planning a flip...yet...

I don't think a flip is in the works. The stations has just gotten a little LAZY lately,
especially with their music. This should be a wake up call for them.

This is so ugly and unwarranted, those guys are smart and funny and hard working, with years and years worth of faithful listeners.
Looks like the programmer agrees
Missing You
Hello, Goodbye
Don't Bring Me Down
Love the One You're With
all played between 630 and 645

While I like Tripp and will still listen, I won't listen as much in the morning and that Fred Guy on the weekends sounds lost.

While this is obviously about money, I have to wonder about Cumulus' commitment to the format when they let go the 2 guys most associated with it in Atlanta.

Tripp is an excellent jock. But successful morning shows these days require more than just one talent, which means the show would cost more money if Cumulus intends to keep the format.

I have heard that the number of people let go in Atlanta yesterday was over 8 people. Randy & Spiff, PMD guy on Kicks, engineer, web master, and 3 back office. Not a good day for some qualified and talented broadcasters.
