Sorry to hear about all those that got the pre Turkey day Ax over at Cumulus in Albuquerque...

I hear several Board Ops, Several in the News Department and in Engineering.

While it seems like their cuts have been less severe than they were three years ago, Cumulus is definitely cutting a large amount of people. Between October 15, 2008 and January 31, 2009, Cumulus cut nearly all of their nighttime and midday people. Most weekenders were also eliminated, though they had to keep a handful, who were promptly cut down to minimum wage if they were making above that (or at least that happened at the Cumulus clusters where I have friends).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. They have the right guy in charge of programming with Mike McVay. Make no mistake that he knows both what he's doing and what he's up against; his consulting partner, Charlie Cook, was shafted by Cumulus a few years ago in budget moves. I hope he can turn that company around. It has some good people who really need the support of someone like McVay. Working conditions have been too miserable there for too long!

Yea thats the ticket cut your way to success.Every Broadcaster tries it.
Hire more Ex kirby vacuum cleaner salesmen.

Slash the engineering dept, they just sit around and spend money.
We don't need no stinking Engineers. What do they do anyway?

Yea thats the ticket..Find me a high school kid too fix the crap.
Think cheap.

Why do we sound like crap?

Whats that static?

Why is the FCC here?

What do you mean my station is not at full power and off frequency?

Tantalizingly cynical and painfully true! Goes to show you, you get what you pay for! I'd gladly exchange two of my favorite ribs for a cathartic wakeup call in the radio business! Can I get a witness?

McVay is a hack...yep, i've worked with him. McVay is not the answer.

^^^ Think I'll take your word on this one. My personal experience has been that
not every head that wears the crown is worthy of royalty. This is especially so behind the scenes.

Surprising to read a new reply 14-months since the last one. Nice to see the NM thread making a little noise again. NM is where I cut my teeth in radio many years ago. Many of my NM contemporaries, some of whom even posted here in the last few years are now doing air shifts in the great terrestrial beyond the clouds. And I don't mean Cumulus clouds...
