CW To Be Sold? Nexstar Among The Suitors.

Exactly! Unless The CW has the rights to sports coverage like the NFL and Olympics, and has a fully developed network news studio, why would anyone think Nexstar-owned stations would dump a big 4 affiliate for a network full of superheroes that only fill 2 hours a night.
Keep that mind that Fox News only provides Fox News Sunday and Fox News Edge wire sources to their local affiliates

And people thought I was nuts for suggesting a possible station swap earlier in this thread. Now a mainstream news outlet has brought up the possibility.

Right now, I think CBS may end up having to keep the stations in San Fran, Detroit, Sacramento, Philly and Pittsburgh. However, Seattle and Atlanta look to be gettable. Tampa is complicated due to Nexstar having already two stations there.

I could see Nexstar parting with stations in small markets like Austin, Norfolk, Scranton and/or Albany to make the deal work.
Austin has 5 full powered stations excluding Univision which licensed out of Waco, and KBVO who's transmitter in Liano is much farther and outside of the Capital. NBCU might bolster it's Texas presence by acquiring KPRC from Graham, WOAI from SInclair and change their duopoly by moving CW back to Channel 35 bought by Sinclair outright, and KXAN with KNVA launching a newsroom by acquiring Spectrum News 1.

Well, in the Hampton Roads, I believe it could look like this...

3 - WTKR (CBS)
4 - WSKY (Independent)
10 - WAVY (NBC)
13 - WVEC (ABC)
27 - WGNT (MyNetworkTV)
33 - WTVZ (Fox)
43 - WVBT (CW)

I believe there would be a three way swap for 27, 33 and 43, resulting in MyNetworkTV moving to 27, Fox moving back to 33, and The CW moving to 43.
U forgot the Ion station spun out to Inyo buy I would see Tegna buying the Ion station and MNTV affiliation and make more news for WVEC. WGNT might get Ion to solve duopoly problems.

Here's what I think could happen....

In Tampa Bay, WTTA could pick up The CW, while sending MyNetworkTV to WTOG, while in Indianapolis, WTTV and WTTK could pick up The CW for the DT2 subchannel, while WISH-TV could become an Independent station, and in Hartford, WCTX could pick up The CW, while sending MyNetworkTV to WCCT, and that station could change it's call sign to WMCT.
unless Fox buys WTOG and WUPA Atlanta

That could've happened too (But with MNTV being relegated to Secondary status with "Primetime" running from 10:00 PM to Midnight rather than the recommended 7:00 PM tp 9:00 PM it currently does)
In Des Moines on 8.2 my network programming airs from 7-9pm taking off 2 star trek shows on H&I.
On 9.2 in cedar rapids / waterloo my network airs from 2-4am.

Update CW Network changes leaders.

This is as Nexstar puts it's management in the CW Network. Dennis Miller a Nexstar Board member is named as CW President.

Dennis Miller, a TV executive-turned-venture capitalist who in recent years has served on Nexstar’s board of directors, will take over as CW president effective immediately.

Reacting to the switcheroo, prolific producer Greg Berlanti — who over the years has shepherded a show or 20 for The CW — told Deadline, ”I’m definitely a little shocked, and I’m definitely sad. But Mark and I have worked together for 20 years at ABC and [at The CW], and I’m sure we will continue to find other ways to work together.”

How many Dennis Millers are there?

There's the conservative comic who used to be on "SNL".

There's the pharmacist who rants online about how corporate pharmacies push drugs instead of natural remedies or preventative measures such as diet and exercise, and about how employees are worked so hard they can't properly instruct patients on possible interactions or other problems.

And now there's this man, who I assume is not one of those.

It seems like a fairly common name. On the other hand, I know two separate people named, "Russell Bohanon"!

The end of the cw as we know it is in its final moments. Looks like he mostly deals with reality shows like 90 Day Fiance and The Matchmaker.

If the CW has it's days numbered then the soon to be former CW stations can fill the 12 hours that aired CW programs with syndicated series and reruns. Maybe a return to localized channels (ala PIX 11, WGN 9, etc).

They never had a chance to make a play for sports, but they might look at PAC-12; a portion of ACC, CUSA, Mountain West and other college games currently aired by Sinclair, or even HBCU games owned by Allen Media Group.

In some ways I would definitely like to see the CW fold and let come stations get back to being true independents again. but only of they don't fill the time with more trash talk and courtroom shows like they carry in the daytime.

Attention Grandpa Simpson: I didn't mention infomercials this time. :p

Really I fear that MNTV is most likely go down as does Estrella and Azteca America tbh besides neither Estrella nor Azteca have limited resources than TelevisaUnivision. CW might look at Amazon's MGM, Sony Pictures, and/or Lionsgate much like Fox does without a studio. With Gray TV launching new Telemundo stations i predict that 30 or 40 percent of MNTV stations might become a Spanish station of either Univision, Unimas, or Telemundo.

If they truly become independent they would most likely air shows like modern family and big bang theory and have the same shows that's currently playing 22 out of the 24 hours a day. So the likes of Andy Griffith or Brady Bunch on a local station is pretty much in the past. Except for a very small few as I think pix 11 in New York airs the honeymooners.
