d&c does have one good quality..

...they arent ballwashers.

it is somewhat refreshing to turn on 'eei without hearing about how gosh darn great the red sox and patriots are. AND OMGZ DA CELTICS!!!11

ive grown to appreciate...d&c, particularly callahan. dennis is a bit of an empty suit...but oh well.

the best broadcaster on eei...by far...is dale arnold. but even he is such a homer. have you listened to his interviews? ugh. downright embarrassing. one softball after another...

just listen tomorrow...all of the weei hosts (except d&c) will be bashing bob ryan. because he had the audacity to criticize bill belichick

bob ryan was spot-on in his piece today. but the folks on 'eei, with patriot poo on their noses will be wanting to run him out of town.

good call on Schill and Faxon.

I love Bob Ryan. I wish he was on WEEI...

Dale Arnold's interviews are so self-serving. You know the kind: "We only have 30 seconds left..." and then he asks a 29-second question. Too much of that primping & preening 'enough about you, let's talk about me' by interviewers these days, and Dale is from that mold.

Bob Ryan will enter the Boston Sports Media Hall of Fame and he should promptly close the door behind him. Most sports media types these days--especially the haughty gray-hairs--are twisting themselves up like pretzels over every little thing. Mostly, it's a 'new media' versus 'old media' battle, and the mere mention of blogs, message boards, and comments sections attached to newspaper articles sends these 'old-school' fossils (see: Dan Shaughnessy, Massarotti, et al) into a rabies-like froth. These people are much closer to being six feet under than they are to reversing this trend, so it's a rather humorous slice of media life we're witnessing.

But comfortably staying out of the fray and doing his job with tremendous class, dignity, and professionalism is Bob Ryan. He's the 'Chairman Emeritus' of the Boston Sports Media Cabal, and he stands alone in a class of one.

Callahan is the quintessential radio bully. He's a name calling, cheap shot artist with agendas so transparent, that it's embarrassing. Anyone who appears on their show is never criticized. They only hate Belichick because he appears on the Big Show. If he was on their show he'd be a saint.

Howard Cosell without the ego. Ryan calls them as he sees them and is not afraid to p**s people off. It's a heavy trade-off, especially when it comes to sports journalism: You can be your subjects' friend, or you can be a journalist. Ryan chose the latter, and we're all the better for it.

Art Spooner is 100% correct Callahan was as big a bully and jerk whenIi knew him 25 years ago when he was at the Lowell Sun.

Callahan is such a buffoon! He splits every subject into black and white so quickly, I almost wonder if he is a broderline personality...It is not just race but politics in general. How will he survive when one of the democrats wins in Nov? Will he just be bad mouthing them daily? He is nastiest when he minimizes concern for the war in Irag and the economy...defending Bush.

Dennis is an empty suit...was the lightest hitter among the big 3 Bahstan stations when he was on Channel 7...By his own admission, as a "sports journalist" he is a good golfer.

Nobody at EEI can conduct an interview that doesn't ball wash. Ya know, had the Pats WON the Super Bowl, they would been all over the radio but nobody had the guts to ask them where they were hiding after the loss. That is why I like Bob Ryan...wrong as he sometimes is!

Lately, I am just sooooo tired of Basketball, Maxwell extremely poor grammer and diction. What ever happened to just a best of 5 series?

I'm sorry but you are a fool! You don't get it, for example IF Obama/Hill wins in Nov., Gerry will do just fine. Don't you think he'll scream louder, if a Dem is a President?!?

Secondly, DnC does a great job interviewing opposing guests. You can't badger a guest right away, if you do that the guest will get mad and probably defensive and either hang or ignore tough questions. Glenn does the same thing.

Lastly, relax on Cedric's grammar! He knows his basketball and thats what is important. The playoffs might be spread out but enough about the best of five.

first of all, i disagree with callahan on 90%+ of the things he says.

but there is no doubt in my mind that he is the smartest guy on the air on 'eei. that combined with the fact that he isnt a ballwasher, makes him a refreshing voice on that station.

of course he is over-the-top and often times hyperbolic. that still isnt as annoying as mikey's yahoo act. or pete and glenn telling us how great whatever boston team that is in season is. or dale arnold stroking the ego of whoever he happens to be interviewing.

it is a particular shame about dale. as i stated before, he is hands down the best *broadcaster* on that station. i just wish he wouldnt fall in love with his guests.

first off... get used to more basketball with the upcoming series. I don't see how anyone could find this series boring. Do D&C still talk about golf? (I haven't listened in a few years now) Now THAT'S boring sports talk.

Second, I wish someone would call Callahan and ask him if he ever served in the military or if he's another "chicken hawk" like most of the right-wing talk hosts.

Callahan was never in the military. I don't think he could even make it as a cub scout.

What happened to him at SI? I was living out of state at the time and just recall he returned to the Herald.

i have a question for those that have been in boston longer than myself...has dale arnold ever said anything even remotely critical of a red sox player...or are have they all been so gosh darn great?

the boot licking..or in this case...the cleat licking is sickening.

Don't you love when someone starts name calling on his sixth post?
