D. Geller: Atlanta Radio's Worst Commercials?

The commercials for D. Geller & Son with an imitation of Tom Shane are in my opinion the worst on Atlanta radio.

Isn't there some other way they could pitch their store without the imitations? If they're supposed to be funny or clever, they're not coming across that way to me.

Truly couldn't be worse. Any time you have feigned "light moments" of "conversation" in a commercial, it's a disaster. On the other hand they must work.

The only thing worse than hearing a D.Gellar commercial is actually going into one of their stores. Getting harrassed when you walk into the door and the constant pressure to buy today, makes me cringe everytime I hear those damn commercials. I hate Mike and Stan.

As another poster pointed out, they must work. Not sure how they measure their success, but makes me think better spots might work even better. I'd be curious to know what they spend annually on these annoying spots.

I'm not sure how much they work. They made me want to go to The Shane Company. But on the other hand the swami ones were funny.

Don't forget about that horrible Swami character they have. Ugh....freakin' terrible....and borderline offensive.

D. Geller's commercials have about as much class as their store.

They must work, but then again, some folks have about as much class as school on Saturday and will put up with crappy customer service to save a buck. ::)

Swami started out as a cheap ripoff of Carson's Karnak. Then it became a cheesy Indian stereotype.

I think the single most annoying thing I ever heard on the air in ATL was the "Pop-Top" on Starship's "We Built This City" on Z-93: "We built Atlanta on rock and roll, Atlanta's Hit Radio Z-93!" :p

Those D. Geller ads are Horrendous!! I'm convinced that D. Geller thrives in spite of the ads, not because of them. They would probably get more store traffic just by repeating their name and location for 60 seconds.

I do in fact have a friend in the diamond business. He got me a sweet deal on a great ring that my ex-fiancee decided to keep when I broke it off. Good times.

Their brother David Geller owns Jewelry Artisans in Dunwoody and there is another brother that owns another Geller shop on Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs. Its all in the family.

I really hate those spa sydell commercials that has benn running recently. The
one with the annoying woman saying how she deserves it. And to top it off
Sydell makes an apperance w/her horrid voice. Makes me wanna plotz!

Why not? It worked for HEAD ON.

D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger. D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger. D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger. D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger. D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger. D. Geller engagement rings: Apply directly to the finger.......

How about those annoying Scott Antique Market ads that used to run a few years ago? That woman's voice was like dragging nails across a chalkboard. Does anyone know who that woman is? I was relieved when they found a new spokesperson.

They are awful spots but you remember them don't you?

Yeah, but it's a negative association. Kaminski Jewelers is also pretty bad ("If you want-ski good price-ski..."), but it's a goofy, amateurish bad so I don't have any burning hate for it. Those D. Geller [censoring curse words myself here] both act like the're the coolest guys in the room and would've been writing for Seinfeld if they hadn't already gone into their father's business.

Ditto. I hate any commercial that uses sex to sell to such an extent it expects all men to have a Pavlovian response to the product being pitched ("me buy big burgundy gift certificate, me get some!--that what they say!"), or any commercial that baldly uses reverse sexism by portraying generic women as witty ones and generic men (especially fathers) as stooges. Heaven knows you can't get away with the reverse today!

I can understand (but not condone) if the product is being pitched to a woman, but none of these ads make me reach for MY wallet...

I actually refuse to ever shop at D. Gellar because of their ads... don't tell me why I shouldn't go to the competition...tell my why I should come to you.

I did go to Simply Direct Mortgage to re-fi my house because I shopped it and they dropped it. It was the biggest no-brainer in the history of man.
