D. Geller: Atlanta Radio's Worst Commercials?

ClarkKent said:
That's not the same guy that's talking to the camera and then for no apparent reason, a UFO appears over his shoulder, is it? I HATE that ad.

Back to the whole D. Geller thing...I did hear Tom Shane in a radio ad the other day sort of explaining/apologizing for his unique sound. Self-deprecation works when it's honest.

He thanks everyoe for putting up with his deviated septum. I thoght that was funny. I also don;t understand D. Geller poking fun at Tom Shane for going to Antwerp to get diamonds as an unneccessary expense because fdiamond people come to them? So these middlemen which Shane Co. cuts out fly here for free and do not jack the price up to be the middle man.

That is a very unique deal they have going on there where the middle man does not charge for their service or expenses.

Good point. Howcome anything else I buy is cheaper if I go pick it up myself instead of having it delivered, even for "free"?

Either way, either Tom Shane or D. Geller's salesperson has his or her butt in a plane seat.

There is another aspect to putting one's butt in an airplane seat for business purposes.

Several years ago I worked for a family owned business. We were into about everything EXCEPT radio! One of the brothers, even in the tough, slim years travelled to Europe AT LEAST ONCE each year. It was something of a "working" vacation. Rent a car. Travel. Get nosy with the locals every time to stop to eat or gas up the car. Ask what the funny little signs on the back of trucks indicated.

He recognized trends from around the world before they became evident here. Knew where to put the family money next.

Maybe diamonds end up costing the same whether you go to Antwerp to select them, or you sit home and let the salesman come to you. Sitting home may not tell you what changes are going on in the world that you need to either jump on first, or be prepared to defend your turf when your competitor jumps on the trend.

I don't know that there is one right answer to this 'travel or don't travel' concept.
