D.L. Hughley Show is Official

They don't even have an appropriate press kit. When I asked for information today, I was basically chastised because it was 'Day 1'. I politely responded that they can just get with me when they have all their material together.

I don't care at this point. If it isn't important enough to them that they can give me more than one music log to judge the show by, I'll just pass.

I guess they are making enough money without your radio station.

According to EURWEB.com (August 26, 2013), the show is supposed to be in "39 markets including Chicago, Cleveland, Nashville, Memphis, Detroit and New Orleans".

It only took one hilarious segment on Monday (built around the theme of "How to Save Detroit") to mentally imprint the new Hughley show as a 100% improvement over Skip Murphy. (I still kinda sorta feel bad for his yanking so quickly, yet hope he had a contract paying his new on-the-curb time.) I forgot Hughley was so good at mining impromptu humor, but that easily comes from all of those years doing 'crowd work' as a stand-up.

I wanna see how this show grows. IMO, it's off to a great start.

I've listened to it every single day, since the 'soft launch'. I can't see any reason why a station that wasn't already running Skip to take this... One more 800 number to call for minimal content.

From a PD standpoint, it's a whole bunch of songs to manually put in your music scheduler to keep your rotation correct.

It is my personal opinion that for a UAC afternoon program to really succeed, it needs to have more content. That is why I had no problem running Baisden... He brought something to the table.

12 songs with some hit or miss comedy is too much trouble. Factor in the man hours to keep the music in your Selector or Music Master database, plus downloading the traffic inventory, importing the spots, & doing the affidavits and you can have a local show with your own music.

If they want people outside of Cumulus & Radio One to pick this up, they are going to have to do more than what they are currently.
