Dan Patrick or Jim Rome?

I prefer Patrick, maybe by default. I've never been able to stomach more than a segment of Rome on any given day. I don't like his voice, his language, or his style. Then again, Patrick says something, then recounts what he said, then tells you who he's going to talk to and what he'll talk to them about, and then his feelings on it again. In my market, I don't get to hear the hour with Olbermann, which is too bad, as I'm guessing it's the best of the 3 hours because Dan has someone to give a contrasting opinion.

Now, Bruno or Czaban?

Rome by far. The above poster pinpointed why Patrick's show is just boring as hell. Patrick is laid back himself, of course. But as a Rome fan for going on 10 years, I know as well as anyone that he's an acquired taste. If you don't get his humor and culture of the show, or more importantly if you don't give yourself the chance to, you won't like Rome.
To the second question: Bruno. Liked him ever since he was on ESPN Radio in its infancy.

Rome and Czabe hands down. I'd listen to Czabe more, but 104.5 The Zone in Nashville has a local morning show, so I only get one hour.

I like Rome and have been a clone for eight years now. I remember the first time I heard Rome. It was on a station in Mobile and I thought he sucked. I found him on the radio a couple of months later here in Jackson and listened for a little while and warmed up to him. Dan Patrick is good on TV, but boring on radio. Having Olbermann, however, has improved the show a bit, but not enough to where I could listen for longer periods of time.

Bruno v. Czaban: Czaban. I never caught on to Bruno.<P ID="signature">______________

Finally a topic I can respond to....unfortunately here in C-Bus (Columbus Ohio, in Rome-speak) we havent had Jim Rome on the radio for about three years...still i prefer Rome to Patrick....more energy, more laughs and more "watercooler moments"...Dan Patrick is safe, but usually boring radio (except for the Olbermann hour, which is very good) while Rome usually has something that makes you listen.....Bruno vs. Czaban---I used to be a big Bruno fan, but i really dig "The First Team" on FSR, usually listening to the replay at noon...i really enjoy listening to Czaban and his crew, lots of things i can relate to with them as opposed to Bruno's schtick....

Rome over Patrick alone, but Patrick w/Olbermann #1

Bruno over Czabe, but barely.

> Rome over Patrick alone, but Patrick w/Olbermann #1

As someone who finds the Patrick/Showkiller combo unlistenable under the best circumstances, I really enjoy Patrick with Olbermann. I find KO very entertaining, and I seem to wish he would just replace his ol' lame pal Patrick and put him out of his misery (and, yes, I know that will NEVER happen...) I still think it was a big big mistake to let Dibble go, as he gave something fun for Patrick to plat off of.
Rome, no matter how much it shames me on this board, is one I do not miss. I have no excuses, but it is the truth.

Mac

P.S. I have turned the corner on the toadie. It kinda keeps things lively around here. It now perks me up to roll out the rack in the morning to see if ol' realdeal is denying the Holocaust or somesuch nonsense.

So funny.

I actually saw a post that was not Ashwood fluffing or Bruno bashing a while ago. It does keep it fun around here though.

Definitely Patrick. The guy is classy radio period. No ridiculous and juvenile "smack offs" or anything like that. If you want sports information and a true discussion, you listen to Patrick. If you want mind-numbing repetitive, and juvenile antics, then rome is definitely the guy. I can usually take about ten minutes of Rome before I have to turn the channel, because after ten minutes I'm hearing the same old "smack." What I DO love though, is hearing Frank Caliendo doing the Rome impression. It's classic. To bad Jim is so overly sensitive and can't take being made fun of, when that is how he has built his minor empire.Just my personal thoughts.

Colin Cowherd is a notch above both of them. But if I had to choose between the two - it is no contest - Dan Patrick (especially with Keith Olbermann) is far more listenable than Jim Rome. Dan Patrick's downside is that he: can be somewhat boring at times, sometimes seems like he hasn't done much prep before the show, and sometimes he thinks his segments are more interesting - than I think his listeners find them to be.Jim Rome's downside is that he: is arrogant, cocky, condescending; is always trying to drum up fake outrage over frivolous sports stuff, and is just hard to listen to for an extended period of time (like fingernails on a chalk board).

I have to go with Patrick because of his smooth style. Also, with Olbermann coming back to his show, it has added a great element. Olbermann and Patrick have some of the, if not the best chemistry in all of sports radio.

Cowherd is the only guy on radio that makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis. But if I had to choose between the two - it is no contest - Dan Patrick (especially with Keith Olbermann) is far more listenable than Jim Rome. I have already expressed my opinions on Patrick, and I still find Olbermann hilarious, in spite of Patrick.Dan Patrick's downside is that he: can be somewhat boring at times, sometimes seems like he hasn't done much prep before the show, and sometimes he thinks his segments are more interesting - than I think his listeners find them to be.I agree 100% there. I have now let it really get to me that he starts each show with that ridiculous self-banter of asking himself questions and answering them. Probably says more about me than that does about him.Jim Rome's downside is that he: is arrogant, cocky, condescending; is always trying to drum up fake outrage over frivolous sports stuff, and is just hard to listen to for an extended period of time (like fingernails on a chalk board).I agree wholeheartedly, except I just find Rome more consistently entertaining. Go figure. Any news on his contract status yet? Though I am a big clone, I would prefer he not paint himself a humble regular guy while he pulls in five mill per. That is hard to swallow.

pretty stupid of me to type my whole brilliant mess in a quote box....You just can't take me anywhere...

Jim Rome by a length, but Colin Cowherd & Papa Joe(Chevalier) are better than both of them.

I boycott Rome every 4 years during World Cup.OK Jim, we get it, you don't like soccer, we got it the first 950 times 4 and 8 years ago, and we get it the 200 times so far this year.Rome just comes off as an ignorant fool when it comes to soccer.

Legend I'm with you...I would consider myself a Rome die-hard 90% of the time BUT the soccer blasts are getting a little old.The mom with the mini-van and orange slices blast was funny the FIRST time we heard it... not the 50th!Haven't had a chance to hear Dan with Keith... how is their chemistry? Are they taking calls?
