Tony,

All power to you. However, I doubt I'd give up Sirius 36 The Beat, having no commercials.

Off topic for a sec, I had Sirius myself and went over to XM. It was the BEST thing I could do! The Beat really STINKS! They play older (as in 3 to 5 years ago) material as if it was CURRENT. I used to tune in to Area 33 instead but at times the station would sound TOO hardcore. Anyway, I went over to XM. If you want to get an idea what we're looking for from that...go to Channel 81 (BPM). Now THAT is a rhythmic station! Mainly current and pretty "dead on" to what core fans can appreciate.

weei could try 'dancing with the stars' with pete the meat on play-by-play for overnights. it's better than the fox sports crap they currently run.
The Brick is Great , after his show , FOX is all Garbage .

For those of you that happen to peek at the New York forum, a new rhythmic station has been launched...Pulse 87. It took quite a while to fill a void down this way but it happened! And now, we want to keep pushing for more radio stations to consider a current based rhythmic format throughout the country. We are now targeting Philadelphia and Boston for our campaign.

Now, even though I don't live in the Boston area, I do know some history....mainly with Kiss 108 back in the 90's and Star 93.7 as of recent. I also know that Boston MAINLY is a rock oriented city. Though from what I understand, there is a small but lively dance music scene there, as well as outer areas (Providence, RI, Fall River, New Bedford, Lawrence). As such, with all of the obstacles, I do believe a current rhythmic leaning station could work out in Boston.

Just need some feedback on this

Personally...I think it's great there are a few radio stations willing to take a chance on a different type of format! 8)

Do you think we can convince a few others to program Soundtracks and Film Scores? That's a gendre that's wide open for exploration---and frankly, I wouldn't mind cruisin up or down the turnpike to the music of Korngold, Steiner, John Williams or Hans Zimmer! ;)

To all of you in Boston,

Whether you like or hate dance music/rhythmic music, I have to give you all credit for, the very least, handling this thread in a cool and collective manner. I will be the FIRST to admit that this is a gutsy sort of proposition, yet one I feel well worth it. I brought up the same topic on the Philly board and the HATRED there I can equate to a hanging! :-\

I have heard Fun 107 (WFHN) and it is a pretty good dance leaning CHR. My rationale for Boston/Southern New England is that just like New York you have a European and Latin influence. Whereas down here it is primarily Italian and Puerto Rican/Dominican, where you are it is French (mainly French-Canadian) and Portugese/Cape Verdeans. My hope is that someone in the Boston area is as passionate as I am about getting rhythmic music (as in club stuff) back on the air up there; I would fully support that person.

Whereas with Boston, I think I can work with people in a constructive manner, with Philly it's going to turn out to be a "war". Guess I'll have to prepare myself :(

And to think, I thought all of you up there were going to give me hell!

A pure dance/rhythmic format could work in Boston if executed correctly...

If you want to hear dance music done the right way, see if you can find an aircheck of the old Club Kiss, when DJ Costa G was spinnin' on the show, circa 1993-1997...

The only Dance Pete "The Meat" would do is on his 360 playing Dance Dance Revolution and be defeated by Fred or even the Big O lol

Now on a serious note; Tony, Dance can work in Boston, however they way you want it seen implemented over here may be too edgy for the average radio listener. They would have to try something ala Fun 107 (and that works well in the Fall River/New Bedford/Providence area), but with more pop, and some people would think it may be too edgy. Boston is more of a Rocker market, and may not see a Dance friendly (and even a Latino oriented) station in the FM dial in a long time. Star was just about right for this Market, but relied too much on gold (mostly from the 70s, compared to the Freestyle tracks they played), which made the station unlistenable at times.
