DANCE MUSIC....OKAY PHILLY, YOU ARE NEXT!

LOL LOL LOL...you didn't get it. It's not what you think. Didn't you see the word retired. I wouldn't go there eithier. But someone who read this in the past....explain it to him. I don't have any energy to.

- I still say, it would work in Philly !
*BUT* not a 24/7 decca-dance, in yo'face,
house/euro/(etc)....

maybe a 'soul-gold'/daypart, and a "mash-up"/of
combo, between "movin" and the 'fun' songs of
the 80s and 90s......

definately, NOT a groundbreaking, new music outlet...

actually *
any format / any market / will work !!!!

just keep it on the aire long enough...............

people either 'get sick of it/ and its a guilty pleasure'

or,
its there long 'enuff' / it becomes a 'hertiage station!'

after reading this thread i dont know where to begin on this. all the bashing and slick comments of few regarding about an idea to have a "danz stayshun" as u put it on here. but at the same time, it does make sense. now, Tony, u know me well enough, but as much as i like the idea, i personally think its good enough that philly has hot wired on HD. For some odd reason the people in philly doesnt seem to give dance music a chance. for what I read everyone that hated the idea never explained why they dont like the format. it seems as if dance music did something "personal" to them. This may link back to the "disco sucks" era and I guess its sticking to philly. The real deal is this, let Hot Wired test the waters, if Z88.9 and super 91.7 are doing well, hot wired will do as well as they are. yea, I wish they were streaming, but when I did hear hot wired I enjoyed it a lot. Will we ever get dance music on hd-1 in philly? if so, I can imagine this board will raise hell about it, but surprised no one raised hell about hot wired being on hd. so.......about that pulse 87 lol.

You know, just looking on here, I am surprised no one talks about My 106 in here. (Philly's 'KTU equivalent.)

Maybe folks aren't up on the current, edgy sounds but I would think the "safe" stuff would at least get some sort of discussion somehow.

Tony, the reason they don't discuss My106 here is because, by philly standards, they are not a dance music station, although they are the closest we've been in many years. I've heard dance mixes of some songs outside of mixshow segments on MY106, and i personally enjoy it, but the 1000 or so people out of a total population close to 4 million that have the PPM don't.

well, u gotta admit, the jersey side of the philly area hs Z88.9, and their 95.1 transmitter does cover a good part of the burlington area, you have 91.7 thats in delaware, and for HD, even though its no B96 HD-2, at least hot wired is as close as a dance channel philly is gonna get, even though it sounds like area 38 with the extended versions. I am surprised that majority of ppl in philly dont look at MY 106 as a dance station, it has the similar sounds like KTU has.

My106 is like our 'KTU up here in NYC. It is "rhythmic" in terms of playing music with a "beat" but it isn't a dance station by our standards either - Pulse 87 is (to which for the fringes in your region, Z-88.9 and Super 91.7 cover certain parts though not all of it). Though upon hearing My106 driving down to D.C. not too long ago, the playlist was much more at par with 'KTU than when Boston had Star 93.7.

So... I still think that filly needs a danz stayshun
its even less commercially viable now then it was back then. i still think youre wrong
