Today marks his 85th birthday, as noted in today's New York Daily News.
The radio veteran, formerly heard on such stations as the old WEVD, is now heard on, among others, WPAT, WNSW and WJDM, all owned by Arthur Liu's Multicultural Broadcasting, still playing his standards music.
I couldn't help but call out Mr. Stiles on a quote he gave in an interview with the News.
What Danny Stiles said: "[Arthur Liu] loves this music. As long as he lets me keep playing it, I will."
What Danny Stiles actually means: "Arthur Liu loves the fact that I'm paying him to play my music. As long as the checks keep clearing, I will."
Isn't that the arrangement? Aren't Liu's stations all-brokered?
