Got this email Dave sent out to all his listeners, thought I'd post it here:

I miss you!!!

You are my friends and most loyal supporters. Although I claim to be a manly man, in all sincerity, your warm e-mails and incredible loyalty have quite often left me staring at my computer screen with teary eyes. As I mentioned in my book, you will always have my family’s gratitude. You sincerely own a huge piece of my heart. During my holiday book tour, I literally signed thousands of books and must have received at least a million hugs. I left each Barnes & Noble or signing location feeling like the luckiest man in the world.

First things first, many of you have asked about my return. Although I am not privileged to share specific info with you at this time, you have my word that Arizona is my home. I promise to keep you up to date, but at the same time, I must ask for your patience and understanding. But believe me, I will NEVER leave you. I truly love this city, and I truly love this state. My family will continue to be dedicated to this community. We will continue to be Arizona’s most outspoken advocates, and we will continue to contribute to this city and to this state in every way.

Many of you have asked for an update on my crew so here ya go.

Check the weather in Hell, because it has frozen over!! Yes, Stacey is engaged! (Keep your fingers crossed that Wonder Boy never sobers up…..)

Mark Curtis is still my best buddy and is still on 12 News as Arizona’s answer to Ron Burgundy. And why am I still buying him dinner every week? By the way, we are so proud of Mark for his intense game coverage from Tampa during Super Bowl week. He dressed like a mermaid and gave us predictions from Pebbles the Penguin.

My other best buddy, Gonzo, is just like me with too much time on his hands. Paula and Christine are trying to secure us jobs as Wal-Mart Greeters.

Shappy has been working out with Second City, the famous comedy troupe in Chicago where John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and many others got their start. And yes, once again, he is absolutely convinced the Cubs will take it all this year. (What’s new?)

Duelly landed a job as an air personality and Assistant Program Director in Corpus Christi, Texas. I am already saving up my bail money.

Remember the crepe cooking, parody singing, trivia master and former President of the Arizona State Senate? Well, now our buddy Ken Bennett is the Secretary of State!!

Mrs. Pratt talked our friend Dan Harkins into giving me a yearly movie pass to keep me busy. Plus, Dan often buys me lunch just to keep me out of the house and happily married.

Robert Stieve is still the Editor of Arizona Highways and still my neighbor. We go walking the hood while protecting each other from wild javelina. He also is adept at working my margarita machine. Interesting, but the more margaritas we drink…………. the more wild javelina we see…..

Senator Kyl is now the #2 Republican in Washington as Minority Whip. Does that have anything to do with NASCAR? I still think it is surreal that we had one of the most influential men in the United States covering left turns for us on Monday mornings.

Governor Janet was also a regular on our show. She is now The Secretary of Homeland Security. I think she accepted that job after Duelly moved so close to the border in Corpus Christi.

Coyotes Captain Shane Doan is fighting for the playoffs and still trying to sell me on the superiority of Canadian beer.

Danny Zelisko is still the biggest concert guru in the southwest. We enjoy our cup of coffee in my backyard while watching snowbirds getting rescued off Camelback Mountain. We’re exciting guys huh? Plus, we’ll probably hook up and hang out at Jimmy Buffett in May.

As for my family……………David (Junior) gets his driving permit this week. Wish me luck! Kyle (Hoss) is only 13 and now 6’1, 220 and training with weights. We had a wrestling match last week and the living room lost. Sammy is still Sammy. He still makes me laugh every single day, and of course, Madison is still “Daddy’s girl”. She turned 8 last week. We had her party at Pump It Up in Scottsdale with huge inflatable slides and bouncers, the High School Musical 3 soundtrack blasting, 30 sweaty-red faced second graders, pizza, birthday cake and about 4 gallons of hand gel.

As for the lovely Mrs. Pratt, she is trying to get pregnant with octuplets so we can beg the public for money.

There ya go!!! Now you are up to date. If you know of others who would like to stay in touch with me, please share my e-mail okay? [email protected] I would love to hear from them.

Finally, on a more serious note, my thoughts are sincerely with all of you who may be struggling through these tough economic times. Remember, stay positive and keep family and close friends as your priority. Everything else will work out over time, but family always has to remain at your center. You will never get these years back. Enjoy every single day. Keep smiling okay? If you and your family are healthy then you are wealthy.

IF YOU DON’T DESERVE IT……WHO DOES?

Dave

Dave is a great guy... May he find another radio home real soon!
I would love to hear him again.

The Beave

My Cheerios are actually quite good, healthy too.

But all indications point to Dave as being an unhealthy addition to the hallways. If he were a box of cereal he'd have a familiar name, be artificially sweetened for a sales department, sold as being a good part of a balanced breakfast, but in the end an overpriced load of unnecessary calories not healthy for the overall body.

Bottom line: High priced, high risk, potential diabetes

Most former co-workers or PD's in town for more than 10 minutes could tell you that.

So which would he be? Count Crapula or Frankenscary?

I guess when all else fails you just sign the biggest name and hope the advertisers flock, right?

Kind of like Beckham?

Pratt will make his debut on the The Peak soon enough.

The show costs 800K, so Bonneville's suits must be banking on billing an additional two-million-dollars yearly.

Good luck... :'(

800K to play American Idol songs after doing country and whitesnake before that?
Hope his "fans" and "crew" "follow" him.

puke

Dave is truly one of the best Air personality's that this valley has.

The man truly cares about his fans.

You would be amazed at the emails he sends back to us his listeners.

He is 100% the real deal, nothing fake about him when it comes to his listeners.

Hang in there Dave!!

I believe Pratt is destined for talk radio and I would grab him for am drive or pm drive at KTAR.

I would PAY to listen to the webstream for that. ;D

The Valley's Morning Mayor.... 620 KTAR

I would PAY to listen to the webstream for that.

Apparently, the "bad economy" hasn't affected the Beave. Talk about disposable income!

Pratt lost out on the Peak gig because he demanded his usual ridiculous paycheck, and that's just not happening in the radio biz right now.

Conversely, Powell got the job because he didn't ask for the world. I really hope he does well.

For Pratt to get a full-time gig anywhere, whoever was picking him up would almost certainly have to at least match what he's still getting for sleeping in 'til noon every day -- and probably have to extend a contract for a couple years beyond, too. As mentioned elsewhere, that just ain't happening until the leveraged money is massaged out of the various ownership groups that "matter" in radio. (Or until those groups themselves are replaced.)

Could he land an unpaid gig at a talker? Regular guest, occasional sub-host? If he wanted a role like that, both local yakkers would certainly be accommodating. The fact that he hasn't begun appearing in such a format, though, suggests that's not an interest for him.

What about TV? He could probably do television and still collect his severance checks. A fringe-access magazine-format show built around local entertainment, attractions and community events (albeit with a painfully self-conscious "hipness" quotient) seems a natural. But who's got the dough to produce such a show? And who would have the dough to advertise/place their product/event there? And would Pratt really want a gig where the Valley gets to see daily how he's about as young, hip and relevant as Bill Austin?

IF mrpbp knew it... He'd do it. Dave donates a TON of money to charities, besides fund raising. Maybe He could afford to donate a little if he really gave some back to the listeners. Brokered time is a business write-off ya know. ;)

Apart, I didn't think Mac NOR Gaydos was worth much, but together, they are an act! Gaydos' idiosyncracies are the perfect foil for Mac's self-important act. What made them tough to listen to is perfectly balanced together.....Gaydos doesn't take Mac seriously (as does anybody else) and Mac's mock seriousness brings Gaydos down off the ceiling before we all get tired of his act.

Russ Hill...this was a great experiment that worked. For my money, they are much more entertaining than Liddy and Hill ever were.

I found Mac marginally listenable, Gaydos, was akin to hearing animal slaughter.

Together, it makes for dumb radio. Pure waste of time, fluff, cotton candy and nothing worth a damn.

If Pratt can do a real show, not some circus sideshow, but an issue oriented show that isn't just another scream fest for the lowbrow.

Aw, who the hell am I kidding, talk radio isn't about quality, its about getting the gomers fired up so they will still listen.

Mac and Gaydos have a terrible habit of interrupting each other and at the same time, leaning on the crutch of "next" (going into breaks).
The board work is atrocious at times, stepping on ABC News and occasional dead air.

Jimmy thinks should Dave Pratt be brought on board for PM drive (Ankarlo has AM drive locked and loaded), Mac should get 7-10pm while Gaydos would see a weekend/fill-in gig tour.

Bottom line, bring Pratt in.
He's capable of a serious three hour discussion.
