Dave Ramsey on GST

Ramsey could borrow the money and then declare bankruptcy like he did back in the eighties. Apparently he located a bible verse that said it was okay not to pay any of those people back.
Do any of you actually know Dave's story or how his operation works? Ahh, then you should know that the type of bankruptcy he filed allowed him to restructure and then pay off his debts and so that's what he did. He PAID them off.
Okay, some people got twenty cents on the dollar, some ten cents, the rest got nothing. I stand corrected.

... well at about the same age that Dave Ramsey had declared bankruptcy, Clark Howard was a self-made millionare and retired after selling his successful travel agency business. Now, who would you rather take financial advice from?

For the record, I have a computer at home record the live WSB stream to an .mp3 from 1p- 4p daily, so I can later transfer Clark Howard to my mp3 player. I also podcast Dave Ramsey. I'm fans of both and I like both.

How does that work? Don't you have to have someone manually hit the record function, or do you have an mp3 recorder with a timer on it? If so, where can I get one?
I thought the wsb streams only let you listen to one hour block at a time and resets.. how do you get all 3 hours?
I'd love to have a recorder to do this!!

I was inspired to try it after a friend in Columbus, Ga started recording Boortz daily on his Mac using a program called 'Audio Hijack'.

However, I'm a PC user.

So I record using this:

http://www.blazeaudio.com/products/powerrecord.html

The software allows me to paste in the url: that launches the wsb stream in a firefox window at 1300 daily. I have it set to record until 1600. The only thing it can't do is close the firefox window it opened at 1300 to launch the stream ... so when I get home at around 9pm WSB is still streaming (Savage) after 8 hours. I assume if I really wanted to I could create some VB script to close it. So the one thing it can't do is record multiple events.

I also installed the 'lame.dll' for mp3 encoding.

Please feel free to email at [email protected] if you need some help getting set up. It's got a 14-day free trail that's fully functional.

Good luck!

Read his story. Unless you know the facts, which it's clear you don't, don't speak about it because it makes you look stupid.

As you can probably tell I'm a Dave fan. Clark's cool and all but please... where to find the best cell phone plan isn't changing anyones life. Listen to Dave's show on Fridays and hear the people calling in to scream that they're debt free. Hear the single mom call in to tell Dave how he's impacted her life. What he teaches literally changed my life and for that I'm grateful. You can't argue with results.

Well . . . That is not exactly the real story . . . Clark was a millionaire the moment he was born. I believe it was his granddaddy that founded the very successful Loveable Bra Company here in Atlanta that was at one time located at the intersection of Piedmont and Lindbergh. Clark, in his own right, is a very smart businessman inheriting some very good business genes as well as being very economically minded. Yes, Clark did well when he sold his business, but he was doing OK just the same.

Then when he parlayed his stint on WGST as a travel information show host on Sunday afternoons to a budding consumer advocate some additio0nal big bucks started to kick in . . . When he made the transition to WSB.

I am not particularly a Dave Ramsey or Clark Howard fan as there are some very naive people calling in to their shows. Dave seems limited to praising folks that pay off debt and I shutter when I hear him tell people to move valuable stock balances to what he considers safer mutual funds.

Clark Howard is much more interesting because he intersperses his calls from financial idiots with his thoughts on current money saving consumer issues. If I had to vote, it would be for Clark . . .

"You really think the reason he didn't pony up the $ to Salem was because he didn't have the money? Riiiiiiiight. The fact that he could clear stations like KCMO, WGST, KCMO and KFNC WITHOUT paying didn't factor into it at all... Keep telling yourself that."
He does have the money, but his clearance on KCMO (which you listed twice :'() and KFNC, and KLIF, is the result of his telling Cumulus (which bought Susquehanna, former owner of those stations) to put him on their new stations or he would find a new home in Nashville (where his flagship is WWTN, owned by Cumulus). Nothing telling about it other than that Ramsey's ads touting "no forced programming" is a bunch of crap.

Although, he seems to be on many more Salem Christian talkers than news-talkers, particularly in markets like Cleveland and Pittsburgh (and some good signals, too!) where hell would freeze over before he'd get cleared elsewhere. I presume Dr. Laura will be exiting the few Salem stations (she's also on WPIT/Pittsburgh, as well as WWDJ/New York) she's on.

I am debt free and could really care less about other people's debts. As to the single moms you and he always talk about with such compassion, maybe they should have kept their legs closed or learned how to take a pill when they were working at Wendy's.

Who I'd take advice from and who I want to listen to on the radio as my entertainment for the day are two completely different things. Would Warren Buffett make a good talk show host?

Get Total Recorder; it will kill the stream at a set time. I stream multiple stations in a day without having to close and open each one individually.

This literally made me laugh out loud [EDIT]. When my sister and I were 12 and 15 years old, respectively, my father left her for another woman. At that point she became a single mom. Not all single moms are promiscuous tramps. [EDIT].

Oh I know his story, obviously a lot better than you do. I'll take the word of his creditors and court records over any Ramsey generated press release you care to swallow.

Show me one court record or specifically name one of his creditors.

Thanks for checking in as the only genius here. Not only would there mother have been a "divorced mother", but perhaps she should have picked a better man to marry. There are plenty of men who don't leave, but they're not usually as exciting as the deadbeat your mother married and didn't turn her on as much. She married foolishly and got burned.

Now back to radio, and your laughing about what an idiot I am (the unmarried one who doesn't waste money on wives and kids)...

Wow, I'm shocked that you're single. Shocked. I feel sorry for you really. So alone in life. Always finding fault with others in order to make yourself feel better inside. It's sad. I mean seriosuly, read your own words! You just got done ripping on single and/or divorced moms!!!! That's so freaking sad man.

Being single doesn't mean I never talk or interact with women... mind you, I'm not going to get married or tied down to someone at my age and relegate myself to a life as APD at a cluster in Shreveport. I'm not going to turn a radio board into a place to entertain your untrue, baseless assertions about me, other than to say that why you think I'm miserable because at 21 I'm single, that's a sad commentary on your for hating yourself so much that you can't spend one minute alone. I'm happy to spend the bulk of my time building a career, as well as investing and traveling, things I couldn't do if I was tied down. Nothing against those who are happy working in some 100+ market with a family, but not for me. Now...

Like your buddy Dave, I'm not willing to do anything for free. How much are willing to wager that he paid his creditors back in full?

Dave Ramsey AND Clark Howard are examples of the BEST radio programming to be found on the dial!
Many of us have rocked all we wanna' and are sick of Rush and Franken and thier tired schtick. Consumer information is intelligent programming and getting out of debt is the best thing ANY person can do for themselves.
Yes....most of Clark's callers are, shall we say, "lacking" in financial prowess. But then... you are an exception if you are financially astute. And only 3% of the American population has NO debt.....another small group if you're lucky enough to be a member. And most of us "little guys/gals are powerless when confronting bureacratic corporate "customer no-service" weasels....we need Clark, along with his team, and the mighty force of 50,000 watt WSB to set the fear of God into these shameless nabobs!!
As you get a little older you may find yourself more sympathetic to "idiots!" (You may even be surprised to find that you are one too!!) You might learn something from these "idiots" who call the shows....if nothing else, it reinforces what you already know and understand to be true.
Thanks to WSB/WGST for the positive, motivational programming provided by Clark/Ramsey!!

Although Ramsey is not someone I can listen to with regularity, I did enjoy John Adams and Gene Henssler. WGST made a mistake dumping these twwo shows. I am very glad to see them back on 1160 AM "The CFO". Bloomie, you just cut out my GST Saturdays . . .

I have seen one billvboard and I am guessing there are more around town but why would they promote Dave Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. on 75 Northbound in Cobb. Under couple fo months and we won't hear his show at all because of the signal. Why not promote the Kimmer then. At least we are sitting in our cars at that time and the signal is listenable for most times of the year in evening commute.

The sad part of all of this madness is----------> Dave Ramsey does his show live in the afternoons. Yes folks when he was on WGKA at 2:00 pm He was live. Now all you will hear is a Re-cycled broadcast of either the earlier days broadcast, or another day that is being repeated. WGST is a wanna be radio station anymore.
They dont have the signal capacity to do what they want to do. Again, I think its time to just accept that this station is a medium market player, who does not have the signal strength to get out to most parts of Atlanta that really would listen.
The same can be said for the smaller market stations that go All News Talk, Like for
example WIMO am 1300 winder ga, Now who in thier right minds would flip a station like this to a news talk format? 650 watts, that has a city grade signal in winder only, and does well on the way into athens, but after you reach the city limits its over. This station was serving the community well before the flip , but now I would really doubt anyone is listening to this relay station for all the syndicated hosts.
WGST would do well to accept that the move to 640 destroyed them and get some good local hosts, and deal with the fact that trying to serve the outer fringes of the metro ATLANTA area is foolish. By the way, Dave Ramsey is a smart dude.
